Watching Hillsborough.

What a horror show. This is going to give me nightmares. I get really panicky in tight crowds. I can't even imagine being near something that terrifying.

I watched the Bad Boys in its entirety last night. Very well done. Most of this stuff happened right before I was born, so it was a cool history lesson. Didn't know Isaiah retired at 32. Also didn't realize they went back-to-back in '89/'90. Really enjoyed the whole thing. Glad ESPN does something right these days with the 30 for 30's. Everything else on that station is garbage.

I didn't know that either. That had to be hard to hold that in.

Just finished Judging Jewell. Pretty good 30 for 30 short film. If you haven't seen it it's about the 1996 Centennial Park bombing in Atlanta during the Olympics and the security guard who was wrongfully accused of being the bomber. Terrible what the FBI and the media did to that guy.

Crazy that of the one of the two people killed during the blast was from my hometown.

That bombing could have been a lot worse.

Anyone catch the of Miracles and Men last night? Great story seeing the Miracle on Ice, and the change in Russian hockey, as told from the players that went through it on the Russian side. As always a home run by 30 for 30 and one that I will watch again. It was funny to hear when asked if any of the Russian players had watched the movie Miracle on Ice that were all 'WHY?! No reason to watch a game that we lost.'

What was a real surprise, and very interesting, was the information and actions after the Lake Placid games. The whole last hour works through all of that.

Finished it last night. First, didn't know they stayed in a damn prison while there. I had heard many version of the story of Lake Placid and never heard of that. How do you not use the ABC call of the game winning goal. I understand using the Russian call of the game ending, I liked it actually. Basically "we lost." The stuff that was said to the players after they lost "you should retire" and all that was amazing. As a Wings fan who remembers 1997 very clearly, was nice to see the Fetisov and Larionov skating the Cup around.

Yeah, there was some pretty interesting tidbits of information that were eye opening about the Russians experience at the Games. I liked hearing the Russian call of the game, it was so stoic and... Russian. Straight forward, to the point, done. The commentator echoed every player interviewed that there was no worry or concern, the Russian team would come back and win. Then it ended and they lost.

The fallout was pretty crazy too. The story did a great job pulling in that human element to a team that most Americans have no love for, lifting the veil on the after effects of that lose. The Fetisov saga was pretty amazing too. I had forgotten that he was with NJ prior to the Wings, and the he was the first to make the jump from Russia to the NHL. For some reason I always think of Mogilny as the one that made the jump first. But he was among the pool of players the defected as opposed to going through the political red tape that Fetisov had to wade through to get the NHL.

I never new much of Fetisov story. Did remember him being in NJ first, cause the year after he got to Detroit, they lost to NJ.

Fedorov was similar to Mogiliny. Was in Seattle for the world championships, went out of the hotel though a side door and disappeared.

Thought that too. Him and Larionov's daughters are smoking.
