I miss LeRoi and the sax....

The song that I'm really feeling is "Shake Me Like a Monkey" and I think it's because it's the main song that predominantly has sax in it. The sax really MADE DMB I think. Still love the band....but I sure wish LeRoi was still here as I'm sure the rest of you do...

RIP LeRoi....you are still missed.

I really enjoyed watching the fuse video on learning more about Roi also on what he had told RR to always strive to do in the future, never play it safe, take chances, also my sig says it best.

Jeff is simply carrying on with the energy Roi had finally found again before he died.

That's how I like to view it. I also think if he gets a chance to help them write music, he can bring a similar view that Roi did. Just an extremely talented guy, we are lucky as fans he is a close friend of the band or honestly, we might not have a dave matthews band right now.

i know this isn't album related but this is the right thread just to say it, but the place i'm really missing roi is on the ants intro. jeff's soprano doesn't sound nearly as good as roi's and he hasn't figured out the right notes that fit into the intro. there are probably other spots like this but i just noticed it the most on ants at the beacon. roi's soprano is heavenly

Ive very thankful for what Roi and what he started with this band again.. without him this record would have never happened and this was pretty much dead.. he woke these guys up again.. I'm sure they are so disappointed he wasn't here to finish it with them, although I'm sure there was never a doubt that they wouldn't finish it for him.. but can you imagine the feeling they must of had going through this whole process without him?? I'm very thankful for Jeff, the guy has done such a great job stepping in, in what must have been and probably still is a very tough situation..

IMO, Jeff will never replace Roi but he's done a hell of a job thus far. Hopefully he will continue to tour with the band for a long time to come...

I can't help but smile during Why I Am. I love how prominent Roi is on that.

LITHOG is one of the prettiest things this band has ever done.

needless to say I love this band so much right now.. I mean I always have but this record has brought the feelings I had back in the day when I first started listening to them.. Not that this record is better than the stuff I heard when I first started listening because I don't think it's realistic right now to say that.. Nothing could ever replace those first few years, thats just impossible and unrealistic.. But this is some of their best work and so different, I love it!!

I was at Hartford this weekend and everytime I looked where Roi use to stand i missed him. Jeff Coffin tore it up though. He did a really good job on #41. Its not the same without Roi.

I know Why I Am is the explicit 'tribute to Roi' song on the record, but for my money, his absolutely gorgeous work on LITHOG is the perfect goodbye from him. Beautiful.

There is saxophone all over this album...LITHOG, Seven, Why I am, and Squirm all have really cool sax parts if you listen for them. But I agree with you, the sax really makes DMB. Leroi's playing was why I got into them in the first place. However, Jeff is probably the only sax player I could think of that could possibly have a chance at filling Roi's shoes.

i couldn't agree more....seriously i don't post here too often but i've been listening everywhere, at work, on the train, right now, and every single time i'm like this is some realllll good sh*t...it makes me so happy i feel like i'm in love or something, i get so in it that i just want to sit on a beach and listen and think about LeRoi and the band and how they've seriously changed all of our lives...

Jeff had to learn many of these songs in a short period of time, songs that Roi had been playing forever so the smoothness may come. Not that he'll ever replace Roi but he may reach his level/sound,etc in time.
