Does it worry you that pretty much every GOP candidate is putting forth tax policies that will increase the national debt by a large amount with no concern for cutting the government?
Social security, medicare, defense, and interest payment on debt is something like 80% of our budget. No GOP candidate I know has any real plan to change those three things. In fact, most want to increase defense so any offsets to social security and medicare will likely even out.
Having said that, they want to reduce tax revenues by 40-50%. GOP candidates usually use unrealistic economic growth to try and explain how they'll increase revenues to pay for the current budget. How can we pay for those tax cuts when we don't make drastic cuts to the budget as well?
Lots of people ask democrats "how are we going to pay for all these things?" When that question should also be asked of republicans "you aren't making any meaningful cuts to the budget yet tax revenue will decrease greatly under your plan, how are you going to pay for our current budget?"
