How did they police crowd size on the floor/pit? Anyone could walk up at any time or did they wristband the first X number of people that chose to hit the floor?

No wristbands in '08, but pits were less common at DMB shows then. However, if the entire venue is GA, I think wristbands would be pointless.
There's a half-circle-shaped space directly in front of the stage that is standing-room only. Behind that are the concrete benches, disabled seating and the 20-ish Grecian "throne" chairs in stadium-style seating. The throne chairs are almost as coveted as the front row.
The lawn is at the top of the venue, small and steep. The tradeoff is that it offers a gorgeous view of the Bay at sunset.
Edit: I'm trying to find a picture. All the Toupstown ones are great, but show folding chairs on the floor, so you don't really get an accurate picture.
