This is the first Live Trax I've purchased in a while. Even if the blu-ray ends up being complete shit, I'd still gladly purchase one just to convince DMB management to offer more blus in the future. About fucking time...

Can't wait to hear this show in lossless

How can it be if it will be significantly worse in quality?

You're wrong because you have no idea how video works. Here are two simple questions for you to answer to demonstrate your proficiency in video encodes: what will result in greater transparency to 480i60 source material, raw DV mastered to 1080i60 or raw DV mastered to NTSC? How can HD-shot material mastered in NTSC look better than raw SD footage mastered in 1080i60?

In regards to LT40 please answer the following questions:
    1) What cameras were used?
    2) What is the raw source material?
    3) How is uncompressed surround sound significantly worse in quality than lossy 448 Kbps Dolby Digital? I thought you've previously identified yourself on these boards as someone concerned with audio quality?

I have no idea you audiophile tech nerd. Honestly, every time you rave about the quality of something I find myself thinking the exact opposite. I don't have the specs of everything, nor can I analyze the sound waves and show them to prove why it sounds good or not. I just know what sounds good to me. Perhaps we have different ears, but as a musician I know what a full band recording can and should sound like. There's certain aspects I listen for in any mix that you can't show with whatever technological analytics you always pull out.

Also, I have no idea how they filmed this. I assume they didn't go through the hassle of filming it professionally with a paid camera crew brought in for it when they just did that for the Gorge 3 months prior to release it 14 years later. Nah... For those who say it will be just as awesome as the Gorge 02 DVD, that release WAS filmed professionally. That is an awesome DVD because of that. This will not be on that level. Just my opinion though, I didn't know I was in a presidential debate where I needed exact facts to state my opinion. But I will not argue again until I know every aspect of every release.

Also for the record, I ordered this release. I order most of the Live Trax. I was just hoping for something better for all the hype we got about it. James Brown, a Blu Ray release, and an otherwise average setlist for 2002 doesn't make me cream myself like the rest of you. I hope you've all showered since they announced this unless you're having multiple orgasms over it.

I thought I remember reading that MSG 2002 was professionally filmed, or that there were extra cameras being used.

The only highlight from that night was Dave breaking a string on Rapunzel and getting mad at the guitar tech for not bringing another one out quick enough.

Ehh the venue actually had good sound IMO in 2013 and in 2015. I was really close to the stage so that may have to do with it. But no problem with the sound for me. The venue made some improvements a bit in 2015 and It is actually a pretty decent venue. Would gladly see them again at that venue. But yeah setlist sucked bad.

Two glaring logical fallacies in DMB1983's post:

    1) Going on and on about being a musician (wholly irrelevant but I've been one since 1982 for the record; piano, guitar and viola) and about how he uses his ears to determine whether a mix is good or not, but then says the Gorge '02 DVD is awesome because it was filmed professionally! So the facet of the release that has absolutely nothing to do with the audio is why Gorge '02 DVD is so great and why MSG '02 won't be on the same level?

    2) If you use your ears to determine the quality of a release, how do you determine the quality of a release you've yet to hear?

I don't know much about what makes a mix good, but The Gorge release sounds too loud, especially Dave's vocals.
