Minor League Baseball to play 2 innings on x-box

A Kansas City Minor Leage baseball team is going to have two fans play two innings of ball on x-box. At the end of the two innings the real teams will take the field and take over with the score from the game...here's the article http://www.realcities.com/mld/krwashington/11944265.htm
My question it, do the stats count for the players in those two innings?

Not sure how i feel about it. Although i do think it's good promotion since Minor League doesn't get any attention. But does this ruin the game a little?

The first two innings of the July 16th game between the Kansas City T-Bones and the Schaumburg Flyers will be played virtually.

Equipped with Microsoft Xbox game controllers instead of baseball gloves and bats, two video gamers will climb into recliner chairs around home plate at CommunityAmerica Ballpark and slug it out on the park’s 16- by 24-foot video screen.

Their scores from playing two innings of MVP Baseball 2005 on an Xbox will stand when the T-Bones and Flyers take the field to finish the last seven innings of the game.........

Technically the T-bones and the Flyers are part of the Northern League, in no way affiliated with MLB or the Royals but...that's still a really cool idea.

It would be hillarious if one of the kids threw the game and Schaumberg was behing 25-0 after the first inning and 38-1 when they took the field.

Minor League teams are always having some crazy promos, guess they gotta go what they gotta do to get fans in. I wonder if the x-box match will be shown on the scoreborad monitor, if they have one that is.

The St Paul Saints games are awesome, the whole time you are there its one stunt after another. For instance, one player from the opposing team is picked out to the the "K" man, or something to that effect, and if he strikes out the audience wins something. So, the every time he's up the announcer is taunting him and so is the crowd. There's also the 5th inning drag, where guys dressed in drag infact drag the infield, its good stuff.

Minor league games are very entertaining...The one club by me has hot tub seats for the game...how sweet is that...

My bro went to a Pawtucket Red Sox game, I doubt we will be seeing anything happening like that in AAA baseball but it is a good promo idea. My question is how do they pick the two people to play. Was there a tournement or something where the two leaders have to battle it out?
