Re: ANTS IN NY - MSG Winter '05-

basically what im trying to say is that the highest energy level tonight was during Smooth Rider/Bayou and thats what DMB shows were like the ENTIRE time years back...without someone guesting on a loud instrument.

the crowd was good tonight, but people sat down during minarets and 41 and were going nuts for hunger and dreamgirl. my mind is still baffled at that.

Re: ANTS IN NY - MSG Winter '05-

then stop going to the shows because dave spends time away from his family in order to make a special night happen for his fans and if you cant appreciate that then you are taking up the seat that another fan in line would gladly accept

>Wow.... People are actually complaining about a show that contains seek up, 41, minarets, chirstmas song, linus and lucy, and halloween all in one. <

listing songs like this isnt a way to prove a point. its not about the songs, its how they played them.

Just got back...

One, if you were at 12.21.02...you never saw the end of this show coming.
I was 4th row three years ago and thought that I saw all that I'd see in an encore...well yeah christmas song, halloween => ants was awesome. He nailed the old lyrics im guessing thanks to the prompter. randolph was insane, did a little golddigger intro to smooth rider and then brought it back in during the jam. real solid awesome show. and yeah the mike doughty scat...either he was completly bombed or he had a major brainfart on stage for this one. but yeah cant wait for the tapes to come out...

night yall

define "looked bored as hell"

I was watching the same show you were and while I wasn't around back in the mid-90s, I don't see how you could say that they looked bored as hell tonight while years ago they were more into it. If this is the case, then i can only sit and feel sorry for myself that I wasn't old enough to attend shows back in the mid-90s because I can't imagine anything sicker than tonight.

I have to unsubscribe from this thread now. You people just piss me off too much. Nothing is ever enough. They will never meet your expectations. Do us all a favor and find another band. The rest of us will gladly take the tickets you obviously find a waste of time using. Ciao.

Re: ANTS IN NY - MSG Winter '05-

kisses, if i had only seen DMB 4 or 5 times i would be saying the same thing, but you do have to realize that people in this board have been around this block for 10 years and mine and the other womens thoughts are nothing to "flame" and tell me to stop seeing shows. i wish i was able to think like you wish the band and get off like you did tonight, like i did back then, but i cant.

i will always support/listen to this band, but i am allowed to feel a little tired of them and will always catch a show a year, and not 5 like this year to keep up with them.

uhh 41, seek up, and halloween in the same night easily takes the cake. even thought u mention making it before the tour, looking at your set tonight makes me laugh, no way thered be that many debuts, regardlessof if it were alpine or gorge. realize that the band is human and cant/wont play your favorite/least played songs every single night.

P.S...don't get greedy with Butterfly, i dont see wh ppl pick it so much-- it was played only once semi-full band and i have a strong feeling RR might have influenced their decision. though i hate ppl taking about venues & all that.

comments welcome MSGers

lol @ your friend for thinking kanye west wrote that song. LB had teases of voodoo chile, I GOT A WOMAN (not golddigger) and Beverly Hills Cop theme song.
.
*sigh*Kudos to you for being Knowledgable in music. But 80% of people do not know that it's not Kanye's song. And if it wasn't for Kayne usining it in his grammy nominated song I'm sure that RR would not have played it.

So for all you reading, He did infact use a piece of Kayne's song Gold Digger and maybe a piece of Axel F too.

PS I am not a fan of Kanye.

You wanted last stop, dreaming tree, people people, blue water, and a trio with trey, bono, and dave on a pink floyd cover. Me too.. But step back into reality, this show was sick, the energy was sick.. Common guys, if that show didn't do it for you, you need to stop attending shows.
umm, where was I complaining about the setlist. I do recall saying "the set list was fantastic IMO." I was just reittirating the incredible energy by saying that the set list doesn't do it justice, because as someone just said it's not the songs so much as how they're played.

Re: ANTS IN NY - MSG Winter '05-

Hey all ive been to 32 Shows to start. I was at James Brown Central Park and everything else. Tonights show was absolutely amazing i think tonight might have been the best show or if not the best up there with James Brown. Heres song by song my review. I sat in 114 row b my crowd in my section was ehhh didnt really seem like that energetic.

PnP Rapunzel- Always good the jam is always excellent and a great way to kick it off.

WWYS- To me it seemed to kick off the great night.

41- Always exccelent the jam is always the best carter on drums and butch on keyboard always amazing.
One Sweet World- Kinda my bathroom break ive heard it so much ha

SMTS and then Seek Up- VEry happy to hear so much to say but always waiting for the bridge didnt get it tonight but an unbelivable version of seek up as always about 20mins and just amazing i felt like people in my section had no clue wat was going on.

Hunger- Its such a fun song to listen to with the light going down on you and everything

Minarets- I yelled so loud i thought people around me were gonna kill themselves. I love minarets so happy they brought it back alot of people i felt around me didnt know what it was i knew it as soon as i heard the little scat before.

DreamSlut into by the way Linus and Lucy they didnt have that but as soon as the Carter was done they jammed it right into butch the place went nuts amazing to hear it again.

Stand up and Jimi Thing- A little tired of stand up but then Jimi thing i thought for sure was going to be the closer being how that hit at around 1045 and i was there last night they were goin for an encore at like 11 so. Mike Doughty scatting was ehh ok to much would have liked to hear dave do it.

Smooth Rider- Got a little nervous thought it was going to be a closer but i enjoy the song and then closing it with bayou and robert randolph un fn believable it was amazing the dancing btwn him and dave was off the hook.

Dave then did his 15min break i thougth for sure we were hearing christmas song and ants.

Christmas Song- Love it glad to here it

Halloween- Christmas song went into halloween sort of and when i heard the drums i was a little unsure either say goodbye or halloween which i lvoe both and then when halloween blasted i jumped up and down could not sit in my seat it was unbelievable. My gf who listens to dave sorta she knows the more popular stuff i just kept on saying you dont know how lucky u are saw the confetti come out it was unbelievable i thought that was it but then right into ants and that was it i thought it was one of the best shows i have ever seen if not the best the 2nd best unbelievable goodnight all.

Re: MSG N2- Holy ****!!

same reason people goto mecca, or why true baseball fans will try to goto one game at fenway and one at wrigley, they are special venues in special places that the band is fond of, and so are the fans, and it becomes like a pilgramage of sorts, diehard fans do what they can to get to these shows, b/c they know they are special, and therefore it doesnt cheapen it per se. they still play good sets at mansfield and other venues, but theres a different crowd at those shows that may not really appreciate it as much as the band would like. if you care enough to complain that you cant see these shows....its not like we dont know when and where they are going to be...save the money all year for one trip, and do whatever it takes to go, you'll make a ton of friends that you dont even need an icebreaker to talk to, you'll see what you know will be a great show, and dont just goto 1 show in a 2 night stand, dont take the gamble, and ya get twice the music. get busy living or get busy dying...(not really die, cuz yeah, that would suck, but ya know) basically stop complaining and start doing. if ya like something enough to get on here and complain about it, then ya should like it enough to do what ya gotta do to be there, and then instead of complaining, ya can tell the stories yourself. and appreciate what ya do get, ya never know how long its going to be around to enjoy....

I have no words, my mind is still blown. It was just amazing.

Halloween, Minarets, Seek Up, Linus And Lucy - debuts for me
So Much To Say - tour debut
#41 - my favorite song, first time i've heard it since 7.11.00
Not one, not two, but three guests.

This show is going to be mythical

Re: ANTS IN NY - MSG Winter '05-

yeah if ppl are going to complain about tongihts show thats crazy. the only thing imaginable to complain about is that they soundcheked song that jane likes but didnt play it but still
ONLY 5 stand up songs and the ones that were played were amazing.
and seek up, minarets, 41, ants, HALLOWEEN..i mean COME ON. the crowd energy was incredible. mike doughty didnt let dave scat at all though.
