NHL Hockey 2006-2007

Well, with the Edmonton Oilers releasing their 06/07 schedule today, I think its about time to start a new thread. Afterall, training camp is really just around the corner - two months and counting! Hockey may not be on your mind, but with all the crazy trades/acquirements/signings lately, how could it not be?

And a new development: Edmonton Oilers are officially poison. Even after having an unforgettable cup run, we're being ditched left, right, and center! Who knows what will happen with us... needless to say I'm kinda scared to find out. But as always, Go Oilers Go!

Re: NHL Hockey 2006-2007

Ahh, I'll agree. I still Love me some hockey..

Being that I am originally from NY I am a Rangers fan, so I have high hopes for them again this year, great YOUNG goalie, Jagr, Nylandar,Straka, and the additions of Shannahan, and Cullen, should make them a tough team to beat. But hopefully they can play some D this year..

But, being that I live in NC now, it was very cool to follow the canes this year, I remember when I first moved down last fall, I got a hockey preview guide that said the rangers and canes were the last and 2nd to last worst team in the league. I was thinking, that sucks, even the team where I move to sucks too, then both teams had great years, and the Canes made that run..Very cool..and Carter wearing an away Canes Jersey in Charlotte, and the Home Jersey in Raleigh was even cooler this summer

Lets Go Ottawa clap, clap, clap clap clap

Havlat being gone is a blessing, Hasek not coming back is amazing and if they could only trade Alfredsson we'd win the cup

Tracking this Free-Agency-Free-For-All has been difficult to say the least. It'll be interesting to see what happens when the dust settles.

A kid that I went to school with and who is really good friends with one of my best friends from college took over as the Director of Operations for the Minnesota Wild this year.

Brydo,
Should be good for the Rangers. I think they were top 5 in lowest goals allowed last year. If they can keep that up, we'll do even better this year - Jagr, Prucha, Straka... and now Shanahan!! The best thing is that there's life again in MSG -- having a team that can compete! (And no Olympics this year to wear down our boys for the stretch run...)

Re: NHL Hockey 2006-2007

i was looking at the oilers roster last night. kind of depressing right now, looking like we're back to a development team again, with all of the rookies. i'm sure that could change a bit still, lots of time till the puck drops, but the playoffs really were a rental run.

Chris Snow's gonna do pretty good there. Wouldn't be surprised to see him be a GM with in the next 5 years. The kid's smart.
He was a good beat writer for the sox the last couple of seasons. Loved reeading his articles and telling him about flubs he had in them.
We played our last poker game with him on Tuesday as he leaves for MN on saturday.
Best Of Luck to him!

How you feelin' about the Stars. I'm excited to see some of the young guys get more ice time but it's tough to see Guerin AND Arnott gone.
I like the Halpern and Sydor signings, not sure what to think of Barnaby(he's kind of a dildo). I will admit that him and Ott on the same line could be pretty aggrivating to the opposing team.

GO STARS

Re: NHL Hockey 2006-2007

The Stars are stronger. Guerin is a question mark and was sketchy all last season. He busted his ass in the playoffs and got 3 goals. Wow. Goodbye.

Arnott is a loss, but he's a headliner. He can lead a team, but will never prosper in the shadow of Modano. A loss sure, but it couldn't be helped as they can't pay them both.

The other signings have been strong, and they are looking solid. Halpern and barnaby will contribute under Tippett's tutilage.

Watch the development players to make a real contribution. Junior Lessard, Vojtek Polak and goalie Mike Smith are all solid and ready to move up. Smith is the real deal. He carried the whole Iowa team on his back to the the playoffs in their first season, then to 7 games against the Clark finalist.

Yeah he's a real good kid. I'm sure he will do great there and I expect the same thing. I just hope that I can get down to DC when they play the Caps and hit up a game with him and my friend Christian.

well, looks like i don't have to go through the conflicting emotions of having one of my all team least favourite players on my all time favourite team. lindros to dallas. good luck with that. maybe he'll play a whole season this year. and maybe i'll flap my arms and learn how to fly.

yeah, i bet.

but now tsn is saying that they might have jumped the gun and he hasn't signed with dallas yet. i don't know if he'd be good for the oilers or not if he did end up here. if he stayed healthy he could put up some numbers, but that's not a common thing, and i'm not sure how he'd fit with the team here.
