Re: What was the last movie you watched?

So since my plans to see Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close this afternoon are shot due to it no longer playing anywhere near me, I have a big selection of movies to choose from to watch this afternoon. I can probably fit in two, and all of these I have never seen before. So with your help, I'd like to narrow it down.

La Vie En Rose
The Nightmare Before Christmas (Yes, you read that right. I haven't seen it.)
The Cooler
The Counterfeiters
Lars and the Real Girl
A Better Life
Persepolis

Yeah, they're both all-timers for me. I vividly remember seeing The Nightmare Before Christmas in theaters when I was 8 years old, and it still brings the same smile to my face.

Would you suggest doing it in the order you listed?

Probably reverse order. As quirky as Lars is, it deals with some semi-heavy subject matter. Nightmare should serve as a nice pick me up.

Nightmare is a really good flick. Casey, if you get a chance to check it out on BD, I highly recommend it. Fantastic transfer all the way around.

I hate The Nightmare Before Christmas.
I hate Tim Burton.

That is all, carry on.

Okay, that makes more sense.

It seems to be one of those movies that a person either loves or hates. I personally love it.

I'd go A Better Life and Nightmare, in that order.

A Better Life has been sitting next to my TV for three weeks now. I doubt it gets watched.

Yeah, that's probably true. I just don't like Burton much in general. The only movies that he's directed or produced that I can say I honestly enjoyed were James and the Giant Peach and Pee Wee's Big Adventure.

I like a lot more of Burton's earlier work, but I haven't liked too much recently. He needs to take a break from Depp and Bonham-Carter.

Those two are great too, as is Big Fish.

Hahaha I mean regarding movie making, not their off camera relationship.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

I'm going between A Better Life and The Cooler for tonight's post Oscar Ceremony feature.

I would definitely like to get an Oscar fare type movie in tonight given the main event of the day.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

I have Tintin and Take Shelter from the interwebz, and Being Elmo in the Instant Queue. Trying to decide what to pop in after I finish this press release. Suggestions welcome, although I know what the answer will be ahead of time.

Also, can someone in here please watch Elite Squad so we can talk about it? This cannot stand.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

A Navy recruitment video called Act of Valor made 25 million dollars this weekend. Box office still up 13 percent over this time last year. Plus, you wonder if the Oscar give a boost to anything still in theaters next week (Artist, Descendents, War Horse, Extremely Loud).

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

If I drive for you, you get your money. You tell me where we start, where we're going, where we're going afterwards. I give you five minutes when we get there. Anything happens in that five minutes and I'm yours. No matter what. Anything a minute on either side of that and you're on your own. I don't sit in while you're running it down. I don't carry a gun. I drive.

Watching The Fugitive right now on AMC. I think I'm finally convinced that this is one of my favorite films ever.

So good.
