Can't believe UGA scored one of the top 8... I am happy, but they slumped towards the end and lost two straight in the SEC tourny... lets see if we can beat those mangy bee's again

Well one of those top 8's was supposed to go to a Big 12 team but they all kinda sucked at the end of the year. A&M went in the toilet, Nebraska stunk as well, Oklahoma St did the best out of the three in the tourney but lost the final to texas and had a low RPI to begin with.

They didn't do half bad last year IIRC. Or was that two years ago...hmm. Don't remember.

If you want to see slump check out A&M's closing of the season(although we still won the Big XII. We were a lock for a national seed. The second game of our Neb series started a huge meltdown at the end of the season.

Texas lost to St Johns today 2-1. Rice is going to win their regional, and A&M should win theie regional if we take care of business. Playing Rice in a super regional is going to be tough though.

Ok. State should have gotten the last national seed, but, it's okay. We're at least hosting a regional and we should at least win it. Wichita State will be the toughest in our regional I belive. I'm still in shock that OU made it in. They lost to an NAIA team in the regular season and barely made the Big XII tourney.

I was shocked not one BIG XII team got a national seed.

I think the big knock on OSU was their RPI. I do agree out of all the Big 12 teams they deserved it the most. And had they beat Texas in the B12CG, they probably would have been that #8 seed.

Re: College Baseball

Texas is stomping Sam Houston right now. Looks like they're set for a rematch with St. Johns (assuming Rice doesn't fuck it up), if they can knock St. Johns out, they'll have to double dip Rice to go so a Super. That shit ain't going to be anywhere near easy.

And that first game against Rice would immediately follow the game vs. St. Johns. The key to winning a regional: don't lose your first game. If you do, it's a very bad uphill battle.

I'm happy with how the Canes are doing right now.

And I think you're right... we did have a baseball thread at one point.

Yea, I just looked at the schedule and saw that it'd be a double header. If Texas gets hot (their bats certainly lit up today) it's possible, but like you said, losing that first game sets you on one hell of an uphill battle.

Re: College Baseball

UGA manages to beat Louisville... don't know if anyone saw it, but UGA is carrying a 9-5 lead into the final when our closer (arguably one of, if not the best, in the nation) gives up a double and then two homers before clamping it down and getting the save... UGA faces Lipscomb, who they got unbelievable upset by in the first round, today at 2pm and then hopefully will be able to be GA Tech to atleast extend the series to Monday

yeah, my Bearkats lost... but atleast they made it to a Regional this year!!! it's been some time. i couldn't imagine if they ever made it to omaha. but they'd have a heck of a time to get there, as evident as this past weekend.

Texas will have a hard time w/ Rice though. when it comes to college baseball, i'm an Owls fan for sure! Longhorns come second in this sport.

Re: College Baseball

Damn Texas was close to blowing that one. Had a 4-1 lead, bottom 9 with 2 out (and even two strikes). SJ loads the bases, then doubles to bring the score to 4-3. Runners on 2nd and 3rd, Texas walked the next batter. Bases juiced. SJ grounds into a fielders choice out. That ball shoots through and it's ballgame SJ.

UGA whips Lipscomb (like they should of done on Friday) and seems well on its way to beating Tech... hopefully they can rest the bullpen and bring it again tomorrow evening for a very improbable comeback... Go Dawgs
