Songwriting dilemma

Alright, so I wrote this song on the JJ baritone today and jammed it out for 20 minutes straight. I'm in love with this new song. However, the riff sort of has the rhythm of Kill The King (not really that close, but close enough where I think about it), the chorus vocals have the feel of Bullet Proof and Hate This Place by the Goo Goo Dolls (It starts off with a scream, and then I get into the words, more screams, then the rest of the words. I've been listening to the Goo Goo Dolls alot lately, and this song is what came out of it I guess). So, I'm at a loss. I write a lot of songs, and if a song sounds even remotely close to, even the faintest hint of a song that exists, I scrap it. This one is different though, I love this one, and would hate to get rid of it. What should I do? I'd post a recording, but I got rid of my Zoom PS-04, and my Zoom HD8 won't be in for a few weeks. Help me out. I do not want to sound similar to any song that's already written, but it's not like I'm intentionally copying either, you know?

Re: Songwriting dilemma

Of the millions of songs that exist it's almost impossible to write something that doesn't sound similar to another song
I don't think there's any reason to worry about

Re: Songwriting dilemma

Don't worry about it man, it just let's you know where your inspiration comes from. Tells you who your influences are.

Re: Songwriting dilemma

If people didn't draw inspiration from previous artists, there would never be any new songs.

Don't worry about it; I also want to hear this song once you get your recording equipment in

Thanks for the help guys. Sometimes I worry too much that a song sounds like something one of my favorite artists has done, and I think I need to stop doing that. I think I'll keep this one around. I'll post a recording when my recording equipment comes in. Thanks again for the advice.
