Re: John Mayer

Not in any definitive order, but if I was forced to come up with a top 10 it would be:

3x5
Wheel
Clarity
Stop This Train
Slow Dancing
City Love
Good Love is on the Way
Covered in Rain
Back to You
In Repair

The two songs from Born and Raised that are most likely to crack this list for me at this point are 1. If I Ever Get Around to Living and 2. The Age of Worry. I just wish Age of Worry were a bit longer and really explored that big sound!

Re: John Mayer

I think Mayer only played breakaway in the early 00s. Anyway, has anyone ever heard Mayer's cover of Kid A, the song? It sounds so weird

Room for Squares is his second best studio album behind Continuum.

Re: John Mayer

Not getting the love for Age of Worry. I think it's one of the weaker songs on the album. It's not bad..but there are so many on the album that are better.

Agreed. It's one of the few I skip and don't feel bad about it. I don't dislike it, it's just not a MUST listen for me.

Can't stop listening to Queen of California. Slowly creeping into my top 5 I think. At least top 10.

He just did a great interview on Fallon. Apparently he lives in Montana now and is basically doing whatever the fuck he wants. You gotta love that.

Re: John Mayer

He also said he's gonna need another surgery which is gonna take his voice for a while and all he can do is rest after that until it heals on its own. No mention of when he'll be back.

He also said he's stopped giving a damn about what people say on the internet about the hat. He started wearing it while in the studio and never saw anyone in public so he wasn't getting any backlash, just said it was a hat he liked.

Also said he feels like he's starting the middle portion of his career.

Seems from what you all are saying that he's becoming less of a douche. That's good news.

About damn time, now only if he'll drop some L and record some music.

Re: John Mayer

Record's growing on me. Still don't love it but I definitely like it. It's exactly what I sort of envisioned a folksy JM to be. He didn't overdue anything, really, which is good.

Re: John Mayer

Guess I'll give the album another listen, but I was thoroughly unimpressed by it.

Walt Grace's Submarine Test, January 1967 is the best on the album, I think. But I agree with whoever said that the ending was a little weird.

Alright, a week later, I'm back to listening to the new Mraz album instead. I knew it was gonna happen. I'll turn it on again soon I'm sure but nothing on the album makes me want to listen to it over anything else.

Born and Raised in half the time I'll be twice my age

This Reprise is fantastic. I just wish it was longer. Lyrics are so good.

Re: John Mayer

Just listened to the album for the first time, one time through. Overall my reaction is . It's ok for what it is, but my reaction is always going to be until he goes back to blues, or at least writes pop rock songs as good as those on Room for Squares and Heavier Things.

For what it's worth, I like Born and Raised (the song) a lot, followed by Walt Grace's Submarine Test and A Face To Call Home.

I don't know about the rest of the album, but I really dig "Queen of California." It's been on repeat big time.

I can understand this. It's not for everybody, but I think he knocked it out of the park. Can't stop playing it.
