Unpowered Mixer suggestions

Hello out there! At my gig last night, the mixer I had been using (A Behringer Xeynx 1202fx) just died like 5 songs into my 2 hr set. Just died. Everything else coming from my power strip (my Digitech JamMan and Peavey powered speaker) were still on. This was the second time since buying the mixer 11 months ago I've experienced this problem. The first time, the music store just gave me a new power cord. This time, they offered to replace the mixer itself with a new one, but I explained I no longer had confidence in the unit and wanted something else. The manager suggested the Yamaha MG102c and let me exchange my defective Behringer for the Yamaha.

I play out, on average, 4-5 nights a week and I need something reliable. A quick Google search will show that these are $100 mixers. I'm willing to spend more if need be, but I've been told I don't have to for what I need. I play 90% solo gigs and am occasionally joined by one or two others. I don't need effects on my vocals, etc.

The reviews I've read on the new Yamaha are mixed. Any other acoustic guys or girls out there suggest any unpowered mixers? I need something reliable that can handle being loaded and unloaded 10 times a week.

Thanks.

Re: Unpowered Mixer suggestions

i use behringer stuff and it works out well for me. their newer stuff is probably better.

if you need something that will almost always be dependable, look into Carvin. they have great stuff and good warrenties.

its about 4x what you would spend, and way more than you need but it is good stuff.

Re: Unpowered Mixer suggestions

I recommend soundcraft if you can afford it. This is about their cheapest line of mixers here:

I've been working on the K2, M12 and Series 4 consoles for the past 9 years, loading and unloading in a dirty dirty dirty bar. They stand the test of time. But as with all music gear, I'd recommend getting a case for it. Helps ensure the life of your product.

Anyway, hope that helps.
