I found myself rooting for tiger @ the masters just like i usually root for him in every event...pre and post incident...

i guess there are certain things a person can do to make you not be able to root for them, but tiger didn't cross that line imo

Specific to Tiger, I found myself rooting for him when he hit good shots and laughing when he hit bad ones or when he 3 putted yesterday. I used to always pull for him, but the guy is pretty clearly a douche. I think it's easiest to see in individual sports but there are guys I'm not fond of on each of the teams I root for, as well as guys I would never want those teams to sign, but it doesn't affect my support for the team as a whole.

Absolutely. It pissed the hell out of me to have f'in Milton Bradley on the Cubs last year. What a piece of shyte. Even if it's not my team, I'll tend to root for the teams who have just genuinely good, fun, normal guys playing for them.

I absolutely do care about the character of the players on the teams I root for, that's why I never wanted A-Rod to go to Sox and was as happy as any Yankee fan when he signed with them and not the Sox. I rooted for every team Doug Flutie played on during his NFL career and always wanted Nomar to do good regardless of what team he played for.

Yes I do care. I find it hard to root for a team if the players are assholes. I mean you dont need to be the greatest person in the world but you can be Big Ben or Pacman Jones. I dont really care if you smoke weed or sleep around just dont get in trouble with the law or embarass the team.

Any criminal activity also gets me pissed, but I don't have any control over who stays on a team or who doesn't, so I don't lose sleep over it.

Sure, saving face and having a quality profile organization is nice, but there will always be haters, and they will always hate. Even one of the classiest people I've known of in my life, Peyton Manning, gets cut up by idiot sports fans. I know no one questions his character, but if it's not character, it's something else people choose to ridicule a person for.

However, there should be a line as to how far down the character level slips. That pegs me as indifferent, I guess.

EDIT : I don't want a wife beater on my team, so no matter how good he is or what amazing play he made, I'd be okay getting rid of him (and certainly not signing him to a six-year, 51.175 million dollar contract).

I don't know these guys personally, so I guess it really doesn't matter to me, the more I think about it. The thought of having nice players is still, well, nice.

If they committ a felony (i.e. Rape, Murder etc.) - yes I care. If they are cheating on their spouse or other overblown infractions I do not care.

So you need a sometimes, depends category.
