Re: Official Superman: Man of Steel (2012) Thread

Obviously this isn't official but on IMDB they have Michael Clarke Duncan listed as Darkseid, if this is true, fuck that's awesome.

Re: Official Superman: Man of Steel (2012) Thread

I am loving this new Superman, from all the pictures I have seen he is really taking on this role with a great attitude.

Henry Cavill Talks Bulking Up for Superman Role

Actor Henry Cavill was recently spoke to Men's Health magazine about his determination to bulk up for his role as Superman in "Man of Steel" without the help of CGI or special effects. Here's an excerpt from the article:

"I had a big sense of pride," stated Cavill. "I was like, 'No shading. I don't want you to draw abs on me. I don't want you to put dirt in the right places. I just want to do it myself. I want to have the body.'"

He added: "You get the fear every morning, 'Do I look good enough?' And of course you do, but in your own head, you never look good enough."

"I think the best thing I learned was that I can do it. A lot of people think they probably can't, until they actually do. When I saw pictures I would say 'Is that me?'"

The Immortals hunk said the key to building the perfect frame was simply training - every day.

"It's a great feeling to be in shape and strong. I don't mean that in an arrogant way at all. But you go to the gym and train hard every day and you learn how far you can push yourself. That becomes rewarding in itself."

Also the Superman Anthology in Blu Ray is on sale at Amazon today, its $55.99, normally its $129.98. I just picked mine up, I have been waiting to get this one at a good price.

This deluxe 8-disc set includes "Superman: The Movie," "Superman: The Movie (Expanded Edition)," "Superman II," "Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut," "Superman III," "Superman IV: The Quest for Peace," and "Superman Returns."

As I've stated several times in this thread, I live next to the town that played host to Smallville. Word on the street is there will be an auction to rid of props from the movie. If I knew what exactly was being sold, I'd for sure be there.

Re: Official Superman: Man of Steel (2012) Thread

Hans Zimmer confirms he will be doing the score for the Man of Steel!

http://www.superherohype.com/news/ar...-man-of-steel-

Also, sounds like there will be a trailer, or movie footage at Comic Con, can't fuckin wait.

I was reading a little about the plot as well and it sounds as they will be having some story on the Kryptonian Wars, if so that means that Jor-El should have some good movie time in this.

Superman was good, Superman Returns, not much, which is what I thought you were referring to. But I trust that Snyder will get this one right, if he doesn't well fuck, time for another reboot I guess.

Re: Official Superman: Man of Steel (2012) Thread

Superman deserves a reboot solely due to the fact that the Superman Returns screenplay/script was an absolute waste of paper. I get that they wanted to respect the original, but that doesn't mean you have to actually use most/all of the same plot points. You think someone involved in that production would've been like, "Dude, except for the stupid kid in it, I've already seen this fucking movie!" Still, if this one turns out bad they just need to give it up for a while.

Did this ever happen, I haven't heard about that. It was pretty interesting here this past summer when they were filming it.

Crazy to see another local. I believe it happened. It may not have been in Plano, but I recall reading about and seeing images of props that were for sale. Early word is that the crew scouted Yorkville (which is where I live) for the sequel.

I use to live in yorkville, now I'm on the border. So they are already making a sequel and the first one isn't out yet? Did you go on the set, I got a few cool pictures there.

They were just planning things out apparently. I would assume a sequel is likely. I was on the set during the very early stages of it being built. I came back later when it was completed but there was no chance I was getting anywhere close.

As a side note, my aunt works at Cooper's Furniture and I know Jeff Cooper, the owner.

Teaser officially attached to TDK:R. This is the score playing during the teaser......if it doesn't give you chills, then I don't know what will.

Looking forward to seeing it on Friday. I am also hoping they do IMAX for this as well. Love that Zimmer score, not really well known but that song is probably my favorite of his, I was actually listening to it on Friday at work.

This new pic, looks fuckin awesome, looks like a little bit of a homage to Alex Ross.

Re: Official Superman: Man of Steel (2012) Thread

Figure I'd post these up as I didn't think I'd seem them anywhere else yet.

Kevin Coster-Pa Kent VO
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jKWJZsjm5U

Russel Crowe-Jor El VO
http://youtu.be/F-toIu5JscE

As I said in the general movie thread, I'm really digging the vibe from these, for what little I expected to get still this far out from release, I like quite a bit. I know lots of people have problems with Zach Snyder, I'm still giving him the benefit of the doubt here (obviously Nolan's team stepping in to produce doesn't hurt).

Only thing I'm a little thrown by, it sounds like Crowe may be doing a British accent for his role here, I don't understand the point of that. I mean I'm assuming though Henry Cavill is foreign (I forget which specifically) they'll still have Clark Kent speaking with an American accent. And it's not even like you can say Crowe is simply speaking in his native tongue, which of course is Australian.

edit: actually a comment I saw on one of those did make me think. A film that uses a pop song in it has to pay a licensing fee to the record company. When a new film uses recycled score from a previous film in their trailer, do they have to pay a license fee to that studio (assuming it's a different one)? Obviously it happens all the time.

I can't wait for this one, those teaser trailers looked incredible. I love the feel to the movie so far, some of those shots reminded me of Malicks films as well.

motherfucker. If anybody happened to download the original video itself and can upload it somewhere, or provide some other kind of link of the good quality version, that'd be awesome, since of course I missed this, it's been taken down. Thanks.

Zack Snyder is an amazing visual director, and he can do comic book violence better than maybe anyone ever. It sounds like he was fairly reigned in and guided on what to do when it comes to the stuff he sucks at...like dialogue where no one is super intense sounding.
