I downloaded a couple songs (torn for two and different places) and I like the guitar work on tft... different places I'm rather indifferent to. tft would be *really* quite good if the song grew in complexity more. I like the main riff, but that sax needs to come in and support it more. You do it towards the end but it's too late! I need more complexity earlier... maybe second verse. How many in your band? 4? Sax, guitar, bass, drums? You need another layer (solo guitarist) or violinist or some other accompaniment instrument. Since this is a studio recording you could simply record over what you have. The drum rat tat tat part (where it gets fast) would be good but it sounds almost two slow and comes in just ever so slightly off tempo. The lyrics are decent but nothing grand. Did you record in mono? If not you could still get some better stereo with the sax and backup vocals towards the end. Don't get me wrong, this song is better than most of what I hear on the radio, but you could make it *really good* with a little more complexity in the supporting instruments/layering. That's my honest take on it. Hope there's something in there that you can use. Good luck, sounds like a promissing band...

Thanks for your opinion! We cant just go back into the studio and change things when we want to, it cost money to be in the studio. We recorded all eight songs last summer in Boston. There are three of us in the band with the sax player as a guest on two songs. We aren't pro musicians if we were, I wouldnt be typing all of this. We did the best we could at the time and since then, things have changed at our live performances. Thank you for your opinion! We really appreciate it.. DL a few other songs and tell me what you think as well...

Any one else?

You guys really need to open up your music...It seems like you guys are craming way too much into one song. Like after the sax solos and whatnot put a nice drum fill for a measure or two to ease back into the flow of things. And dont be afraid to have the sax suppourt you. Dont enclose yourselves in your writing in lyrics, I like your lyrical values, But open more doors up.

Well i gotta roll I'll post more later.

just listened to tft... The lyrics follow the music a little too closely for me in that they are very halting. Perhaps a more spondaic approach to the meter of the lyrics would work better for me, if you're looking to give the image of something being torn. Tears are not always short and quick, they can often be elongated. Especially since the jist of the song is more like being torn between to places or feelings. I like the idea of being in that state as more a slow process than the stop-and-go of the lyrical stylings on the track. Am I making sense? Probably not.

During the first sax solo, the bass becomes almost non-existent. While the sax was soothing and fits very well, I noticed right away the bass became more plodding and didn't change any from where it was. That's the perfect time to weave a little complexity underneath and add to the overall sound.

More to come if you want it.
