just listened to tft... The lyrics follow the music a little too closely for me in that they are very halting. Perhaps a more spondaic approach to the meter of the lyrics would work better for me, if you're looking to give the image of something being torn. Tears are not always short and quick, they can often be elongated. Especially since the jist of the song is more like being torn between to places or feelings. I like the idea of being in that state as more a slow process than the stop-and-go of the lyrical stylings on the track. Am I making sense? Probably not.
During the first sax solo, the bass becomes almost non-existent. While the sax was soothing and fits very well, I noticed right away the bass became more plodding and didn't change any from where it was. That's the perfect time to weave a little complexity underneath and add to the overall sound.
