New science fiction series coming to TNT this June, created by Stephen Spielberg and Robert Rodat and starring Noah Wyle of ER fame. From the sneak preview they just showed after the All-Star Game, I think it has some serious potential. I'm looking forward to it.

What does the trailer hint that it's going to be about? All the information sounds good so far but if it's like a Chicken Little mini-series I'm gonna be pissed.

In an interview, Wyle said it was a "mini-series"...is that all it is? I thought it would be a new show. I have it on the DVR tonight, I know someone in the show so I'm checking it out.

Not impressed. The whole aliens invade forcing people to come together and realize what makes us human thing has been done to death. It all feels a little "SyFy Channel Movie of the Week" to me.

Premiere got monster ratings: 5.9 million

Cable's biggest scripted series debut since July 12, 2010. (Rizzoli & Isles: 7.6 million). It beat out Covert Affairs (July 13, 2010, 4.9 million) and The Walking Dead (October 13, 2010, 5.3 million).

What's weird is... see I'm a huge Noah Wyle fan, to the point where most of you would probably be like "really? him?" He's always been my favorite TV actor, Carter was by far my fave ER character (he's mostly what kept me watching the last couple years that I bothered to), I related to him quite a bit. The first feature spec script I ever wrote, I did so with him in mind for the lead, I even submitted it to his production company (I was on the WB lot one day via my messenger job and I literally handed the script right to Wyle's father-in-law, his partner), of course they declined. Despite all this, I still haven't been able to drum up much interest to watch this, I don't know why

I'm not sure if it because it just seems like the idea's been sooo done to death over the years or what (though true, they are taking a little bit different approach in that the series picks up well after the initial alien attack).

I also heard that it has already been picked up for a second season, so that's good news.

Ive been watching it. It is what it is -- a sloppily-written show with some cookie-cutter characters and a whole hell of a lot of unwanted cheese. Enough with the speeches and the scenes with the kids. We get that the families love each other.

Wylie is good though. So is Will Patton and the guy who plays Pope (that character desperately needs to return). Moving forward, I'd like to see much more of a focus on the adults and the idea than they losing this war and a lot less of the children, which are nothing more than a plot device.

I kind of seen that coming. His character wasn't very likable. Although, the same could be said for Will Patton's character. He is a dick, but from the looks of the last episode they may be getting ready to explore his character a little bit and maybe clear up why he is such an asshole all the time.

I agree. I was never a big ER fan, but he is definitely good in this role.
