Dave Sings with Vieux Farka Touré

Dave has made his semi-off year a productive one. He has lent his voice to African artist Vieux Farka Touré and his song All The Same. You can check out the song over at you tube (Dave starts in around 1:30, but go ahead and give it a listen and don't skip ahead; it's got a nice swing to it).

Matthews and Soulive's Eric Krasno are featured on the Malian's (that means from Mali) 2011 album The Secret. You can pick it up over at six degrees records. To learn a bit more about this artist, check this out.

    But I liked the song. Pretty cool. The video was full of cliche symbolism tho - kinda dull.

    great song. I'll have to check out this Vieux guy. Love Dave's contribution. Was it just vocally, or did Dave contribute songwriting?

    Makes me excited for Dave's next solo effort and/or efforts beyond DMB.

    I agree, as long as you can get past the language barrier this album is gold. Vieux is an incredible blues guitarist, and it definitely helps him that he brought in 3 world class guitarists in Trucks, Scofield, and Krasno. I think Scofield is only on Gido, but it's a fantastic song. My personal favorite is Lakkal with Krasno, definitely worth a listen, and I'm looking forward to seeing this at governor's island.

    FWIW, and I know there are a lot of Rolling Stone haters on here, but in their brief review of Toure's album in the current issue, they highlight Dave's vocals as one of the highlights of a very good reccord.
