Dreaming Tree Wine

Hello all. I don't come around here much anymore, but I wanted to share this information with you. I work in the restaurant world and was told by one of my wine vendors (who knows I'm a fan) that Dave has a new wine coming out called Dreaming Tree. Unlike the other wines, it is going to be from California, which will make it more widely available, and most certainly taste better. If anyone saw the tree drawing the Dave Matthews Band page put up on facebook yesterday, my guess is that very well may be the label.
Well that's all I got.

Re: Dreaming Tree Wine

Wonder why he is going with California? He must just be licensing it, not actually producing it.

You may be right, but my guess is he's taken a liking to the process of producing wine and you can only do so much in Virginia.

I believe it will be distributed nationally as I am in NJ and it will be here.
I was just told the wine is appelation specific which is a good thing, meaning they're not grapes purchased from Tom, Dick and Harry. It is being made as a joint venture with Dave and the wine maker from Simi Wines, which is a rather reputable producer. Sounds like it will be a decent wine. It should be out around month's end, but you won't see it on the shelves immediately. It will probably sell in the 16-18 a bottle range.
Yes, I am a wine nerd.

Cool, I thought that might be the case (partnership with an established winery). Will be looking for this.

I will. I have a case ordered for myself already. I'm friends with my wine guy and he knows how much I like the band.

This is the tree I was talking about. To me it looks like Dave drew it and it would make a splendid wine label. But that's pure speculation on my part.

Oddly enough, a trademark for Dreaming Tree Wine is registered to Constellation Wines, which is based up in your neck of the woods. Constellation, I guess, owns Simi, which is based out of Sonoma.

Good detective work. Funny enough, I grew up next to Raritan NJ, the contact on there.

I bet this is somehow connected to Robert Mondavi...which is also owned by Constellation. And I'm actually originally from Canandaigua (home base of Constellation).

Nice.

I'm heading back there this weekend. Might either hit up the Riesling Festival http://rieslingfestival.com/ or go to a few wineries on Seneca Lake.

Re: Dreaming Tree Wine

Dave probably had to play the D+T show at CMAC last year to get Constellation to do this wine
