Breton. Also in consideration were Dark Elf and Imperial.

(Disclaimer: I know nothing about this game or previous Elder Scrolls games).

It's all good. You can really build any race into any type of character. The only things that matter are their racial abilities and the initial bonus to certain skills. It's generally agreed that Bretons make the best casters; Dark Elves are generally the sneaky/sword & magic type.

But you don't have to limit them to those archetypes.

Re: **The Official Gamers Thread**

I don't usually like the characters that are the best at magic, preferring to just go all brute force. So typically I would have probably picked a Nord, but I wanted to change that up. Of course, the first half an hour of playing was spent by me home run swinging a warhammer at people.

Oh, and I almost stopped playing forever when I got to the giant spiders. The area with the spiders in Jak 2 still haunts my dreams, and I'm fully serious.

Yeah the spiders creep me out. There's aren't that many of them aside form certain parts of the game though. Also trolls because of how they charge you.

About the Breton thing - yeah it doesn't really matter how you play your character. Certain characters just get a small initial bonus to certain skills, but you can level any skill up regardless of that, so it doesn't matter in the long run.

Re: **The Official Gamers Thread**

I have nothing to do until 9pm or so when the gf gets off work, and right now I've got a serious hankering for some video games. Unfortunately, I don't really have a good game to play. Nothing I haven't beaten anyway. Most games I've already re-sold (entered into a contractual agreement for rape) to Gamestop. Game options:

Uncharted 2
Batman Arkham City (Beat every sidequest even....but I guess I could buy that Catwoman expansion...)
Metal Gear Solid 4
Grand Theft Auto 4

Re: **The Official Gamers Thread**

I continue to spend more money on free-to-play games than I really should. I was deciding whether or not to buy 400 gems ($7.99) or 800 gems ($14.99) on Smite to buy new Gods. I went with 400, because I only saw two I really wanted to try out.

Then I backed out to the home page, saw that they had just released a new god, and bought another 400 gems. So I ended up with 800 for $15.98.

Re: **The Official Gamers Thread**

Well I finally got an xbox 360, it's been a long time coming but after going to e3, I had to give in. I couldn't pass up the Star Wars edition, so I got that and the Gears of War triple pack to start off. I am looking forward to getting home and taking this baby for a ride. The last time I really played an xbox was Halo 2, I have had a Wii for a while.

I bought myself a new microphone for commentaries, and made an incredibly stupid 8 second video for it. http://youtu.be/OumVj4wY1CU

I played about 3 hours last night, feeling tired this morning, I miss the college days of just playing games all the time and sleeping in. I got up to the Berserker and had to stop, I couldn't get pass that part, will try again tonight. Oh and the Star Wars xbox is f'in awesome.

Has anyone here bought into Ouya yet? The kickstarter exploded today - over $1.2 mil in 12 hours.

Edit: Damn, since I last checked 30 mins ago it's now at $1.36 mil.

Yep, I put my $99 in. It's a great concept, I just hope that it gets a lot of major support out of the gate. But if it fails, I spent $99 for a sexy looking Twitch.tv streaming box, something I'm fine with.

Holy shit! Rocksteady's new Batman game to be a prequel inspired by 50's "silver age" Batman. First meeting with the Joker, and will feature The Justice League. :http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118056432

I could never get into Gears, and I am a huge over the shoulder TPS fan, but those games just never did it for me.

How does this work exactly? Will it essentially be playing mobile/ipad games on your tv? Are the graphic capabilities planned to be similar to that of a smartphone?

Mobile games are fun and all, but I kind of don't get it. You can generally (well, potentially) develop a much better game using PS3/360 software, etc as opposed to Android.

I'll write more when I'm not on my phone, but what you wrote is where it'll start, yes. But the real reason people have ponied up money for it, is the idea of an open source unit in your living room. It has the power to, graphically, be abou Playstation 2.5, so you'll see better looking games once development starts. But being completely open, on one level, as soon as I get it, I basically have every SNES/PS1/PS2/N64 etc game ever, because someone will have an emulator available day 1. But if you look at the Android marketplace, people still pay money for quality games, even when it's easy to get them for free.

As long as the install base is sizeable, this is going to be insanely well supported by the community. Hopefully it reaches that level.

This is what I love about MOBAs: I just played a 70 minute match of SMITE, which we lost, and it was still fantastic.

This has peaked my interest. Is the price guaranteed at $99 even post launch? I read up a little bit the other day, and basically you're reserving your gamer ID, and console. But what happens when it hits stores?

Re: **The Official Gamers Thread**

Who has played THPS:HD and how does it feel on the 360 controller? I am contemplating buying the 360 version now and then the PS3 version when it is out.

I am on the fence because I always use D-pad for THPS games and well the Xbox's is beyond horrible.

IDK, but if I were you, I'd just drop $20 and buy a N64 and never look back.

It just came out for 360 today, PS3 to follow in in a month or two. I've never played a game in the series on anything other than a dual shock, not sure I want to start now its just such a perfect controller for the game.

Just got done playing the demo and I'm going to have to wait for the PS3 version, the controller just doesn't feel right to me. the couple hundred hours I've played those games between THPS1-3 have really set me in my ways
