Re: The Gorge 2012

People of the Gorge!

Was wondering: what is everyone hoping to hear this year?

My long shots are Last Stop, Dreaming Tree, JTR, and Spoon.

A little more likely, as they've played them this tour, are You Never Know, So Right, So Damn Lucky, Drive In Drive Out, Pig, The Best of What's Around, and Typical Situation.

I really want to hear, and think we will hear, Ants Marching, Dancing Nancies, and The Stone (which they didn't play last year at The Gorge). Actually, they played none of the songs I listed last year, so maybe that's why I'm hoping for them most! Cheers.

And you still have to wait another four weeks to go see Journey, Loverboy and Pat Benetar over there. Will that tide you over till the end of August?

ewwww. nothing against those bands...they had their place in history and all that, but...yeah. no thanks.

Only thing on the calendar coming up is Jonny Lang and Buddy Guy at the Tulalip...I've got a number of "wants" but...I'll probably opt to save the moola

My calendar is crazy. I've got an astronomy event I help put on for 700 people every year coming up in July (www.tmspa.com), so that will make the next four or five weeks fly by for me.

The plan is leave Wednesday and drive all the way through, like yourself. No Avett Bros. for me this weekend. I figure I'll see them open for DMB. Hopefully going to Blues Traveler on the 4th though.

Re: The Gorge 2012

Although it'll be my first time at the gorge this year, this thread makes me feel like ive been going for years, that and the webcast of last years show.
However it pains me to think at the beginning of next summer I'll be done with school and have to get a big-boy job, if i can find one. What am I to do when I cant just travel to DMB as I please?!??!?? #hammeredthoughts

What are we going to do when dmb calls it quits? Or at least takes an extended hiatus?

I changed jobs in 2010 because I knew I wouldn't be able to go to Gorge with the schedule I had at my old job. Priorities. I haz them.

People of the Gorge, and specifically, Toupstown,

I am pleased to announce Toupstown will be gaining a resident this year... it's official, I'm packing my bags and moving in.

That being said, April, you can officially change your status to "ISO: 1 premier pass" as you can buy ours.

I think so. $160 plus fees, so yea, that sounds about right. My online bank account doesn't go back that far to see what I paid TicketBastard. So sure, we'll take $186. And we're local so I can do an in-person exchange for the actual pass or whatever. I'm up to Seattle a couple of times a month.

Yes, tip: don't rent from the airport. It's super expensive and you can save money if you rent from a company outside of the airport. Like 10% tax savings, which can be a lot, especially over a holiday weekend. Rental prices overall are cheaper from non-airport locations. (I work in a hotel with Enterprise in my lobby - I just asked them, and airport rental car taxes are 30.5% plus higher rates for the cars themselves.) I would look at locations outside of the airport, and use a taxi, light rail, or bus to pick up your car. It's still going to be cheaper with one of those options figured in than the airport. And if you HAVE to rent at SeaTac, YES, reserve in advance for sure.

Re: The Gorge 2012

So I've seen 9 shows so far this year...and I'm getting an itch to do the Gorge for the first time ever this year. What do you think my chances are of finding a place to stay and getting a ticket for all 3 shows? Airline prices look good right now from Florida. Any advice?

thanks in advance!!
