I stayed in Milwaukee in 2010. I recommend it only if the concerts coincide with Summerfest. The 2 days before DMB were filled with music. If you don't mind the drive (which isn't that bad) and staying sober towards the end of your night, it is a grand idea.

This alpine thread has been slow to start off, damn look at that Deer Creek thread! Never been camping for Alpine but I just looked at the Rome Riverside camping and now I'm considering that as a possibility.

I've camped there twice....I recommend it. it's about 30-35 mins from alpine but it's totally worth. again, it's not real life

2 years ago we had a campsite wide game of flip cup. had to have been 50 people on each side. blacked out later that night tho. hell yeah

30-35 mins away isn't bad at all! That's how long it has usually taken for me from hotels I've stayed at in the past.

google/mapquest or any other GPS software will lie to you and say its prob 45 or 50, but if you drive 5-10 above speed limit on those back country roads (which 15-20 above is more probable) you will be there in 30-35

Thats sweet! So it does eventually fill out though? Bark River as a lot of space so I think they just keep letting people in but it's kind of dumpy, although a lot of fun, and Rome sounds pretty awesome. I just don't want to be regulated last year like at Scenic River.

yeah it fills up. it's pretty big though. i'm not sure how many cars/campsites it holds though. and don't worry about being regulated. they will help guide you into a spot so it's organized, but after that, you can drink and smoke or do whatever as much as you want. they don't care as long as nobody is getting hurt. they will occasionally drive around on a golf cart to check things out, but they are cool as hell and don't really care about anything.
