I've been camping at Raccoon since I literally came out of the womb.. no joke. We always bring alcohol, and for the past 23 years have never got in trouble for it. You just have to play it smart. Never have anything showing, don't get too crazy, etc. It can be done.

I had a great time at Bennett acres in 09. And it was even after they had to have police force all the Phish-head hippies out of the campground.

they let you drive in and park/camp where ever you want and you wont be bothered for more than them checking your wristbands.

My friends and I set up for the 2 nights, had tons of fun, met some crazy hippies, but most of all had the most memorable DMB weekend of my life. (and I even went to CVille)

Stayed at Bennett in '08 and '09. Had a blast both years and will be returning this year. So excited they are back here for 2 nights! '09 was one of the best concert weekends I've had with Phish Thurs., and DMB Fri, Sat... I think it's a good place to camp and have never had problems there other than the shower water being cold as ice in '08

My girlfriend and I really want to camp out that weekend (it's her 21st birthday the week before and she's a huge DMB fan but has never been to a concert so I'm gonna surprise her with tickets and hopefully a place to camp for the weekend). Unfortunately none of of our friends are big enough DMB fans to spend the money for the whole weekend, so if anybody has a spot for 2 people at their camp PM me! Will definitely chip in with money and anything else! Thanks!

But anyways, I'm so glad that they're going to be back at Starlake, and more importantly, for two nights!

This is true. Biggest advice I can give you for camping at Raccoon Creek - when you go to the venue, don't take more booze/beer to the venue than you're actually going to consume. And if you do have more than you can finish up, hide it in your car someplace other than in the cooler before you head back to the campground. The rangers WILL check your car on the way back into the campground at night, and will confiscate anything visible or in your cooler. Don't behave like a jerk at the campground, and you can definitely get away with enjoying a couple of beverages around the campfire.

i've been to montage mtn. and am not a huge fan of the venue...plus two night stands in PGH are awsome, star lake is a better venue and usually has better crowd, and not just saying that because it's my home venue...just my opinion though

I have to say "WOO!!" to the dates (no weddings!) and the venue!!

My brother lives right next to Raccoon on 12 acres so I'll probably be camping at his place this year to save me the drive back and forth to the South Hills.

I plan on staying at Racoon myself. Stayed there once years ago for a show with my cousin...didn't really get to explore because we got there and then basically had to leave for the show. So im taking my fiancee, which this will be her first Dave show(s) and to boot, she's not big on camping. Im thinking of getting a cabin instead of pitching a tent but on the other hand i want to let her experience it all in one weekend through and through. But i think that Bennetts would be pushing it with pitching a tent because that would be a little too much and think taking her to a state park would be more enjoyable for her. What are the cabins like there?

We swapped a few texts yesterday. They reserved the campsite is next to ours. There's up to 5 people allowed per site, and I remember their site being big enough for two tents. So y'all could probably share.

So far our group is:

D16 - Me & Jason, Jenn Bending
D17 - Matt & Heather
D19 - Mark & Amy

Raccoon would definitely be more enjoyable than Bennett Acres for someone who isn't a big fan of camping. Raccoon has clean bathrooms, with hot showers. I've heard Bennett Acres bathroom facilities aren't the best...

I'm sorry, I've never stayed at a cabin. If they keep them as nice as the rest of the campground though, they're probably pretty nice.

I did PGH/Scranton in 09.

I like the venue(montage), though it has its flaws. I would have done both again this year, but other things are slowly getting in the way.

Just do both.

i also think the fact that the warped tour was at montage the night before DMB and turned the lawn into a mud pit sullied my opinion of the venue, i still stick to my guns with the crowd factor though, much better in PGH over the years

already doing hershey and bristow so im deciding between the two. wish i could do both but dont have the money/time

IF i camp this year, will probably do Bennett Acres. The drive back to Racoon a few years ago was a bit much on unfamiliar roads. and turning into the campground only to see a bunch of blue lights flashing nearly gave me a heart attack.

I have family in Cleveland, so Blossom was an option...Hershey is relatively close, so that was another option..

But we're in the same boat. We're trying to buy a house this summer, so only 2 DMB shows for me this year.

Unless of course we change our mind at last minute, which has been known to happen, and how we ended up in Scranton in '09.
