Re: *** Mansfield 2012 ***

I'd love to put a Mansfield complete official release alongside my Fenway '06 set. Speaking of, I brought my daughter (18) to Mansfield N1. This was her second show. Her first was Fenway 2006 N1. In those two shows, she got 37 different songs and only two repeats. And those repeats rock: Pig and Digging a Ditch. I think I need to bring her to more shows.

Re: *** Mansfield 2012 ***

I only went to N2 (had Sox tickets on N1) but what a great show! My first Minarets, Halloween and DIDO (14 shows). As of today, I still think Mansfield has the claim of best 2-night stand this year (about time!)

I was listening to the tape, and did anyone else notice in Jimi that Jeff played the theme to "Hogan's Heroes" several times? Almanac says "Sanford and Son" theme interpolation, but I only heard that once, while I heard HH several times. Nice nod from Jeff to Richard Dawson, who passed away four days earlier.

Hope to see you all at Life is Good in September!

I'll be at Life is Good for sure. My cousin lives within walking distance of the farm. My Dad said he wants to go to his first show, so this will be perfect. I was so proud when he told me haha

If it's anything like the past Life is Good Festivals, very laid back. Family oriented. Mixed crowd age-wise. People aren't exactly there to rage

Re: *** Mansfield 2012 ***

Still in the top 3 - wow. Considering that Halloween is quite the regular now....

My daughter's second show - still #1. She's a weird good luck charm. She's been to two shows, six years apart. Her only two repeats were Pig and Digging a Ditch. Great repeats. She doesn't appreciate it, though. She's not a fan. She just likes going to concerts.

As awesome as those shows were, I want more, because there are still things I'd like to see once - or again. (This is NOT complaining. I loved our Mansfield shows and am so happy I went; just fantasy.)

LITHOG. I've been listening to the Mansfield '10 version and it just flows so beautifully. It's like it circles you. I would have swapped that out for SMLAM without a second thought. And Corn Bread. I am totally not ashamed to admit I love Corn Bread to pieces. I would have kicked off, hmmm, I dunno, OOMH. Mercy is enough quiet time, I think. I wouldn't kick that off because I had to see it at least once, even though I don't like it. I dunno. Maybe someday I'll love it. Took me about 10 years to love Crush.

Fishtender. Love me some Fishtender. Would have kicked off PNP/Rapunzel, not because I dislike it. I love it. It just happens to be something I've seen a lot. Oh, and JTR and The Stone. I'd have to kick off Spaceman (which I do like) and Seven (which is sexy, but I've gotten it a lot.) Oh noes. I need room for BlackJack! Hmmm...fix that by having the band come out earlier the first night.

I really hope they see both sets, in their entirety, as worthy of releasing. I'm thinking that the improv before Why I Am means something hopeful in that regard.

Re: *** Mansfield 2012 ***

So, a couple of people died, and a bunch of others were hospitalized for ingesting ridiculous combinations of drugs and alcohol - at the Comcast Center in Mansfield. That place has always been annoying and pretty tight with security. This was Thursday night - some techo-electronic tour? I imagine that situation will get worse if DMB chooses to play there again in the future. Security seems to vary from show to show. One year, a friend of mine and I got harassed by security for moving up to empty seats. It was a stupid cat 'n mouse game all night. Then my kids go to a show there, and they're moshing and crowd-surfing and poking lead singers in the belly button. *shrugs*

It's sad that such young people died from reckless use of drugs. They were supposed to have a good time and live to tell. And it does a complete disservice to them with articles like this: http://www.boston.com/news/local/mas...field_concert/

They repeatedly list marijuana as a drug that contributed to the deaths and ODs. This is insane. It's misinformation. If you do too much speed and X and drink, you don't need marijuana to die. It's like trying to die by drinking Diet Coke. It's just NOT a relevant substance when determining/reporting cause of death. People who smoke weed don't necessarily do other drugs. They may not even drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes. Many of them are way more healthy than drug-free American junk food eaters whose diets lead them to diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, congestive heart failure, etc. etc.

Sorry, I know this is all random. Just thought it was relevant where future shows are concerned - and too full of reefer madness for me to ignore.

^ Holy shit . Looks like I may need to "make" Hartford and SPAC my home for next summer. And if you smoke too much marijuana you pass out, quite promptly
