This will be my first time doing the FL run (insert Bart Scott "Can't Wait")

FL run should be solid as always. Mule as an opener in 2010 was sick with all the DMB guests -> warren sitting in for a song with DMB. Tower of Power should be ok as an opener, but a fantastic addition to the DMB horns section for a few tunes each night. T.O.P. were essential on Little Feat's live album, and they've jammed with the likes of the Grateful Dead and Phish. Should be a welcome accompaniment on Jimi Thing, Seven, Shake me like a monkey, among others.

Tampa is the only show I'm hittin fo sho. I did WPB too in 09 & 10, but might have to settle for just N2 of WPB if at all.

looks like just tampa for me this year. staying at the comfort suites right by the amphitheater so will probably get there early and hang out by the pool then hit the lots or winghouse. should be a great time in the pit again.

Thanks - I figure it's worth a shot. A great tune that we don't get to hear very often on tour. Why a bad idea though?

I don't think it's about judging the fan base. I think it's all about the love of the music. Not really looking to get into a debate over what's "cheesy" here. I don't really care to be honest. I was only looking for supporters on this one.

One thing I did think was very cool was the midset Watchtower at Deer Creek. Thanks to the fans who pushed the idea. I think things like that can only bring a band closer to the fans.

I get what you're saying, but Dave responded to the plastic spoons in 2010. He teased the beginning, but told the guy he didn't remember it. I would love to hear Spoon.

After that he played full versions of the song in 2010. Don't remember where the first one was, but C'ville N1 got it as well. Amazing show.

Fair enough. The DID get it though. That said.. pulling that sort of campaign too often, in subsequent years (since they technically took last year off) may not be met with a positive reaction. Remember that years ago Dave got irritated about incessant requests for Pig and said he wasn't going to play it until people stopped asking.

It's a fine line between fanatically loyal and irritatingly demanding.

I don't mean to come off as a dick, I just think they are tacky. Hold a sign up for the first song maybe? I dunno. Just not a fan of hounding the guys with requests. I'm sure if they took requests, we'd know about it. I hate chanting too. I'll take chanting over twitter spoons.

Love the feedback - I agree with Jordan on the fine line...well said. Many fans are loyal, but it is easy to come off as demanding and annoying when requesting songs regardless of how you feel. I've always hated chanting and will never do it. Signs get in people's way (Phish actually dedicated Limb by Limb to the fans behind the signs last week). With that being said, I'll drop the plastic spoon idea. Spoon or no Spoon, we're in for a good show as always. Hope ya'll have a good time.

3 - If I park at the Hard Rock, if I gamble a dollar, can I get my parking ticket comped?

parking is free at the hard rock. its a decent mile walk across a highway though. the rest i can't recall.

I've never seen a show in Tampa though. How bad does the traffic get around there, as far as trying to get into the Fair?

I can avoid I-4 as I know the area pretty well.

What's a good time to show up?

And supposedly the Hard Rock parking has increased in size as they claim in these new Hard Rock ads. (Has anyone else heard/seen these ads and wondered how more parking spots makes patrons "luckier" in any way????)

Avoid I-4 by any means possible after 5pm as the normal clusterf-ck of rush hour traffic combines with the tons of concert traffic for a perfect storm of moving nowhere. Local roads around the fairgrounds aren't too hard to navigate anyway.
Aside from that, check the local weather so you know when to expect the afternoon showers.

I think the band knows which songs devoted fans want to hear. And they know what songs they want to play. There doesn't have to be any communication. It's kinda cool when a band does start formally taking requests, like My Morning Jacket's Spontaneous Curation Series this summer, but chanting/signs/etc are a waste of energy and takeaway from the experience of others.

im not really sure how bad the traffic gets since im usually not driving and highly intoxicated. maybe someone else can help you out on that one.
