This doesn't surprise me. I always forget The Stone was even played, and that's a song that you tend to remember.

I think a lot of people did that. I know I did, as did the rest of the group I was with. And most of them weren't even DMB fans. Between Roi giving it his all, as if he knew it was one of his last performances, BW not being old yet, and the electricity in the crowd, I'd love to be at that show again.

Red Rocks 05. The version sucked balls but the whole chant and vibe and segue into Butterfly was pretty memorable. It's easily top 3.

I was just saying this in another thread. Yeah, it probably sounds cliche because it was not a killer version but if you weren't in that crowd you simply cannot understand the way that place went crazy. I have been to about 60 shows and can only recall that type of energy twice and both times it was a buildup to a screaming opener at a hugely anticipated concert - Two Step and C-Ville 01 and DDTW at CP.

But to answer the question, no, Halloween is not my best moment at a show. RR is close but not quite.

Guess I'll be the minority and say yes, it was.

26 shows in, ASTB > Too Much > Halloween, Alpine. Such a surprise, and definitely the closest I ever came to screaming like teenager at a Bieber concert. It's still the most vivid memory I have of any concert to date.

My first Halloween was 12/08/2000 and Blue Water was a much more exciting moment, for me. Although, most of the best / favorite shows I've been to do include Halloween.

Alpine 2008 was my first Halloween (and only my 3rd show). It wasn't my all-time favorite moment, but it's right up there. Better moments for me include YNK (Alpine '09), The Stone opener when I was front row, Watchtower>>Halloween in C'ville.

Re: Is your first Halloween your favorite moment at a show?

Halloween is pretty far down on my list of DMB favorites, but with that said the shit that went down at the John Paul Jones Arena in C-ville on the 19th of November 2010, I have never in my life felt a crowd as a whole lose their shit when the boys closed with Halloween. Absolute insanity!!

Yes it is. Redrocks 05, incredible moment. Who cares that the version sucks on tape, the live experience of that was the best I've ever had

This.

I had been drinking pretty hard all day so I was too hammered throughout the show, but when halloween popped up in the encore, I lost my shit. I had been waiting for that song since I started going to shows.

That being said, I now have a few more songs that I eagerly await to be played ( Captain?)

Nah, First song i ever saw, Best of what's around. just the whole atmosphere, lights go down, crowd going nuts, i'd waited ten years to see the band, and out they come, and i hear that opening lick, still have chills from listening to the tape.

Re: Is your first Halloween your favorite moment at a show?

Halloween at Red Rocks 05 would be among my most memorable moments, just because that had been such a wonderful show up to that point and the whole chant thing just seemed so improbable. But that was not my first Halloween nor was it my favorite moment, nor was my first Halloween much of an omigod moment at all.

At least you admit it. Possibly the single most overrated version of a song. I'm sure the moment was awesome, but that Halloween was awful.
