I know Carter says it alot, but I think he is talking about the current incarnation of the band in the video. I'm sure it took awhile for Jeff to fit in, and feel like he is actually part of the band, and not just Roi's replacement. Rashawn is only getting better fitting in, and I'm sure it took Tim sometime to find his way again. So that video, it was 2 years into the current band, and I am sure they were feeling pretty comfortable with each other finally.

Re: Hello Again - Sam Erickson Documentary

On top of the whole thing with Dave, not Stefan, suggesting JTR to open, did anyone else notice that Stefan had no response at all to the suggestion? Considering how much he complains about liberating songs and mixing up sets on Twitter, I would've expected at least a nod or something. Maybe he just doesn't like JTR. Or maybe he just wants to be contrarian.

Rashawn, for multiple reasons, is fantastic for DMB. This is obvious . LOVE what he does for the band

. The way they talked about him knowing every part to the music shows he really is trying to fill Roi's shoes in that department, because that is what Roi was. No one will every be able to touch what Roi brought to the table arrangement wise, but it's good to see Rashawn can have a similar mindset.

Absolutely love this band. What a great insight into pre-show/tour suggestions. Love how they were messing with the Stand Up Recently bit and how Dave and the guys know the fans would be surprised/excited with JTR opener. "I'm glad you sang it because I completely forgot that"-Boyd, hahaha

Re: Hello Again - Sam Erickson Documentary

To the maker of this documentary:

Can you confirm when you plan on posting the other 4 parts of this documentary?

The 2010 tour is one of the most fascinating tours, in my opinion, in terms of how the band interacts with each other, song choice, liberations, and how the setlists starting becoming insanely good from July 1 (Camden N2) onward. Plus, the fact that the band played their first full 3 night stand without repeats at the Gorge. I could go on about 2010... I've analyzed it a lot haha

But to the OP: Thank you so much for putting this together... as a true fan, I can tell you that we all love this kind of stuff. The more behind the scenes material from that tour, the merrier!

Re: Hello Again - Sam Erickson Documentary

To answer your question about the other 4 parts, they will be released one a week I believe, though that is up to management. In re the mix issues, I have remixed it and part 1 will be reposted with new mix. in the meantime if you want to watch on iphone listen with headphones and the audio problems don't happen. Sorry again that this problem occurred (and the mis-spelling of Fonz's name). All will be fixed in a day or two. Stay tuned for future episodes and enjoy! Best, Sam Erickson

Re: Hello Again - Sam Erickson Documentary

Really, really, really great doc. I can't wait for the next part.

Some stuff I noticed/thought about-

Dave commenting on how great the venue was, so therefore they are more adventurous with the venue. No doubt about it... Some venues get better shows and the band knows it.

Rashawn describes a breakdown as chromatic and Dave defines it by playing it. Pretty cool to see different understandings of music (music school vs self taught) within the band.

I absolutely LOVE that JTR line by Dave. I wish we saw more stuff like that. It feels dumb, but that little conversation was one of the best things I've ever seen.

I wonder if the documentary reflects conversation- like is it pretty much Dave and Carter deciding the flow, lil Fonz never raising his voice, and everyone else kinda doing whatever.

Lol who ever edited and has the concert in a different aspect ratio than the documentary.

Forgot how fucking solid that JTR was. Damn. Such a good tour.

I believe the aspect ratio is different because the documentary was done in high definition and the band still records their footage (screen footage) in low definition. Thus you would have to crop the low def footage to make it appear wide screen. I'm reasonably sure Mr Sam Erickson is quite capable of getting the aspect ratio correct when it is in his control. But I could be wrong and it wouldn't be the first time.

BINGO! Thank you sir! This is correct. While the band has since moved to an HD system on the road in summer 2010 they were still on an SD system and you are exactly correct about how we would have had to crop to get the aspect ratio the same which would have made the live stuff look like ass. Nice call.

I don't know if anyone but Sam would know. I'm not sure how long they were on the road with them. I actually remember (back in 2010) them saying they were going to do behind the scenes stuff they just weren't sure how they were going to use it. Guess we are seeing how now.

Something I hope they explore with this doc is the rehearsal space that Stefan had talked about in 2010. Maybe we'll see Dave's realization that Dreamgirl and Minarets are like the same song

No, the doc was filmed on the first leg of the summer 2010 tour and through the WPB shows.
