I like the panoramic. Wish I had patience to do one from closer.

consider yourself lucky.....wish i had sat in your section then....

i went to D&T 2010 CMAC and the portion of the crowd that i was around was not as bad as 2012 CMAC.....last week's Furthur show at CMAC, crowd was one of the best i have ever experienced....so 2012, good crowd bad crowd....

in 2010, Furthur in Lewiston right after D&T 2010, crowd was excellent, then we drove to the Furthur show in Philly two days later and was probably the worst crowd i have ever experienced.....

so i dont think it is the Canandiagua area, CMAC venue, none of that, i really think it is simply hit or miss from show to show and from seating area to seating area no matter who is playing.....it all boils down to who gets tickets and where, there will always be obnoxious people at concerts.....i think what makes the obnoxiousness stand out so much more at a D&T show is the fact that it is acoustic and so the general expectation of hard core fans is for people to put a cap on the yelling during songs and when that doesnt happen we notice it so much more....i dont expect it to be subdued at a DMB show, for example, so all of the same yelling and drunkenness i probably dont notice nearly as much because i can surely still hear the song.....

i was sitting in RRC triple letter section 95% of the show.....i had to hit the rest room twice at the Headliner Tent but since they blocked off the walkway where the soundboards were, i had to walk an extra section closer to the stage to get over to the tent, so on my walk i paused *breifly* to take some pictures....

near the end of Two Step, we left our seats because my wife needed to hit the restroom before we left and i wanted to be closer to the exit when it all ended....while she was in the restroom, i stood along the outer steps' railing (not in front of any seating areas) and watched/shot video of Watchtower....then exited, and was glad we moved down there or we might still be trying to get out of that parking lot....after the song ended, i took those pics of dave and we left.....we were on the open road not 15 min later....

NOTE: I was hoping there might be a second encore set like in 2010, but nope.....although they did still play over 3 hours and very close to the same amount of time as 2010, it just made it seem like it was less at the time...when it didnt happen, we figured they wanted to get on the road as quickly as possible for the next nite......their schedule is crazy, i cant imagine how stressful it must be and to still be on nite after nite, its pretty impressive....

That seems pretty dumb to me and that was 15 years ago. Darien Lake has always been a craphole as far as people are concerned. How about in 2003 when someone threw a knife onto the stage in Colorado? That's pretty douchy and much more dangerous than someone standing up blocking your view during D&T or puking in the lawn, etc.

I just think people are more aware of it now, maybe you've gotten older, more mature, whatever, and just notice things that annoy you more. Just like when you buy a new car...you start seeing everyone else that has the same car as you, or if you're pregnant, then you notice more pregnant people. Etc. You just happen to notice more morons because it's something that gets an emotional response out of you.
I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. My first DMB show was in 94 at Darien Lake. Back then the lawn was enjoyable, and they even had vendors selling stuff at the back of the lawn. Long gone are those days. I just think the DMB fanbase has drastically changed compared to then, and will continue to get worse and worse every year. I don't buy that it has always been like that and my tolerance level is just changing. My tolerance level for douchebaggery was super low back in the day. I was naive and innocent and would have been mortified if I saw half the stuff that goes on nowadays. Sure I saw people acting stupid, but it didn't directly affect my good time. If anything, I tolerate the stupid behavior MORE now. And I'm not getting the car and pregnancy references. I don't really pay much attention to other cars, and I've never been pregnant.

its sad that people feel the need to be drunk and can't just sit and enjoy the music.you have 364 other days you can be drunk, be sober and relaxed just ONCE. its not that bad to be sober for a show. you'll actually remember being there.

i got a picture of that as well, but it was so dark over there that it didn't come out too good.
When I was still in high school my tolerance for level for douchebaggery was pretty low!

No tripod, just a steady hand. Not sure about the rest of the crowd, but the first few rows were sitting for most of the show. That certainly helped!

I agree the crowd in our section at the back of the pavillion was great; I was in your section and row! There was a guy a few rows in front of us in the next section that was completely wasted; threw up on the poor woman in front of him and all over himself. Other than that, I thought it was a great night!

Re: July 15th D&T CMAC

A tip I figured out while taking some pics on Sunday night, provided you have a burst mode on your camera. Prop an elbow on one of the arms, hold down the shutter button and let the camera click away. I was finding all my single shots were garbage because the camera would move when I took the shot. After I switched to burst mode, only the first shot of the set would be blurry.

matt has mastered the art of steady camera filming

i wish i took my video camera with me. its so easy to get stuff in to CMAC. i would have had no problem setting up my tripod right there in front of me. hopefully they'll go back there next year and i'll get it all.

I was in Row C on the aisle in LCE and within 5 minutes I had a security guard come from behind the fence and ask me if I was filming. I found out at that time you can film and take still shots, thing is, they show up on video
I showed the clown shitty photos and he left me alone but I also tilted the screen down so I wasn't lit up like a Xmas tree.

As far as coming in, I could have brought in a shot gun... I just walked on by. I saw two guys close with Canon 5 D (great slr cameras) shooting from their seats.

I was the guy sitting to his left, with my wife. We try and do shows together and these four pavilion tix shows are great. Anyways I've started uploading some of my vids, they woulda sounded better if those drunk VIPs behind me weren't screaming the entire show.

he definitely looks indecisive there, you are right, but its hard to say what he was thinking about doing because i dont think he would have played any of the other songs on that encore list using the JJ baritone.....but he does not use a pick for Some Devil, so it also doesnt make a lot of sense that he was considering using it, unless he was considering a song not on the list, like Break Free or something...

seeing that list, i wish they would have included Whiter Shade....

TOUGHEST tickets I ever had to work for. My brother froze his ass off waiting and got shut out. Even back then I called in a favor and was in 5th row from a person affiliated with the charity. Single ticket.

Funny thing is I never told my brother until he asked me if I could recording... cause he went and didn't want to tell me...
