Most EPIC encore in the Ants Era

from the years 2002-2012, which Encore is the most epic?

Epic being defined as - awesome, and unexpected at the same time.

Hartford 2012 Save Me, Halloween>Billies

Atlantic City 2011 Some Devil, Ants (Fake)>Halloween>Ants, Thank You

Cville 2010 Some Devil, Granny, #40 (tease), Last Stop, Too Much (fake)>Bridge>Too Much(fake)>Ants

Wrigley 2010 Xmas, Cornbread, Last Stop

West Palm Beach 2010 Little Red Bird, Good Good Time, Billies

SPAC 2009 #40 (tease), Halloween (tease), Granny>Water/Wine Watchtower>Halloween

2009 Nashville Blue Water, Watchtower

MSG 2005 Xmas, Halloween, Ants

Cincinnati 2003 I'll Back You Up, Two Step

MSG 2002 Halloween>Ants

Cville N2 is the right answer here, but all of them are really good.

I was at Cville as well and have never jumped and hollered so much in my life. I remember watching that Spac encore and my jaw hitting the floor as well.

Re: Most EPIC encore in the Ants Era

SPAC '09 takes the cake for me. Partial #40, multiple teases, Fonz solo and the first encore Halloween in 2+ years to top it all off strictly in response to the overwhelming chants.

Re: Most EPIC encore in the Ants Era

Went with Cville N2, but SPAC N2 was a very close second. It was so unexpected. But Cville N2 had a special "epicness" factor based on the emotion of the last full band show before the break.

Re: Most EPIC encore in the Ants Era

SPAC was totally unexpected. in cville you knew ants would somehow close and last stop would be played.

so ill vote SPAC. but if i could id vote hershey 08 because rois last two step into ants along with a great cover was amazing. everyone thought that show was about to end and then bam, snare intro. amazing vibes that night, which soon turned into disbelief a few days later.

Re: Most EPIC encore in the Ants Era

C'ville N2 '10 and SPAC N2 '09 are the only correct answers. I went with C'ville, because Last Stop/Ants is better overall than Watchtower/Halloween, but they're pretty much interchangeable for me as the two best encores ever.

Last Night, Wrigley and WPB don't even deserve to be on this list. 7 votes for last night?

I pulled it out of the original list I made.

Hershey got bumped to 11, and I pulled Pittsburgh 09 as well.

both were unexpected, but it's hard to say that either can bump out one of the listed. IBYU and Two Step is pretty damn epic, in any era. That was the 10th I came up with

Re: Most EPIC encore in the Ants Era

09 nashville does not belong here, either at all. good encore, obviously, but a 2 minute cock tease blue water>predictable watchtower is not top 10. id argue wrigley doesnt either but i get the whole xmas song and first last stop closer in YEARS. and, WPB N1. nothing special, either. looks good on paper, and i actually do like LRB now, but still not top 10.

I agree.

And Camden n2 09 should really be in consideration. Baby Blue, Crash > Halloween.

In the 2009 film Star Trek you can find R2D2 in one of the scenes. Will we be able to find the USS Enterprise in Star Wars Episode VII?

good, even great. But teases of Last Stop seem kinda silly now, considering it's had plays before and after that.

it was on my list but eliminated early.

I was only at the Hartford show, but wouldn't choose anything other than Cville. Wish I could have been there.

you are 100% wrong, and you'd suck off a hobo to hear Blue Water just once in a full band show.

I think great for sure. Also it's a bit different now in context, but you can't forget just how huge that Halloween was at the time.

Re: Most EPIC encore in the Ants Era

Gorge 2002 belongs up there, because it was not topped or even approached until AC n3.

CVille 2010 was nothing special. It had to happen. AC's Halloween did not.

According to Jake's criteria for "Epic" Cville shouldn't even be up there, as there was nothing unexpected about the Last Stop at Cville.

Was more than 2 minutes, and was the most of the song full band since 1995.

Re: Most EPIC encore in the Ants Era

my top 10 encores of the ants.org era...

1. 6/27/08. its just too hard to pick against two step>ants to close out a show.
2. 6/13/09
3. 9/8/02
4. LT8. typical>warehouse is about as good as it gets
5. 11/20/10
6. 12/21/02 (love when daves throws the santa hat when halloween starts)
7. 7/29/02. two step chants, and solo nancies. throwback encore.
8. 7/2/04. BOWA>Billies. i prefer this over the 03 version at SPAC because the performances are better
9. 6/24/03. great find, jake. IBYU/two step is just a dream encore for me. IBYU in the E1 hole is about as perfect as it gets.
10. AC N3 caravan

SPAC doin work, as usual.

ive seen a 2 minute blue water go into xmas song back in 2000. awesome? no question. but that plus just watchtower isnt top 10 worthy over a 10 year span

I actually couldn't care less about hearing Blue Water, solo or full band, at all, ever.

Staggeringly overrated.
