Should I go to Hershey?

I picked Hershey over Camden this year because i'm tired of Camden. It's not a fun place to drive to, it's not a great place to tailgate anymore, it's not that great of a venue so i'd rather go somewhere else. I've been to 25 shows, did the whole 6 shows in the summer plenty of times. Did SPAC for many years, been to Hershey once. Couldn't go to SPAC this year so Hershey was the next best thing. Not that the venue is any good but i like driving away and staying somewhere and making a weekend out of it instead of just going to a show and going home. So even though the venue isn't the best, i'm going to Hershey and i can't wait.

i don't get this thinking. hershey does in fact get unique and special stuff. 2010 was recently > cornbread > recently, which was one of the highlights of the entire tour. 2008 was the only typical situation of the year, along with one of the best encores ever thanks to arguably the best two step ever. and 2006, well, just imagine that setlist being played now, but replace the SU and 06 songs with BW and new stuff.

I don't get what people have against Camden. The venue is fine and usually gets great shows. The area directly around the venue (waterfront) is also fine. I would never skip a 2 night stand in favor of a one nighter. Not with this band anyways.

i asked one dude on here before if he was going to the caravan in AC and his response was "im not stepping foot in NJ" and he was dead serious. complete moron.

I'm with you here, I love Camden. I also love Hershey, not for sound quality, but 04, 06, 08, 09, and 10 were all good shows. 04, 06, and 08 particularly rocked. My brother was at 03 on Sept 11th and it was awesome.

Camden contains some of my best memories too. Saw them in the front row at Camden. N2 in 07 was still one of the best shows I have ever seen even on a pretty mediocre tour. In 06 Camden N2 had an absolutely disgusting run in the middle of the show that still is one of the best runs of songs I have ever seen. The venue itself in Camden is also fantastic, and easily the top sound quality place I have seen the band both on the lawn and in the pavillion.

This will be my 3rd trip to hershey, 09, 10 & now 12.

09 was sickeningly bad, but got an awesome poster (reeses cup)

10 was amazing, even though the encore sucked.

so its 1-1 for me. But I think they do like it there for some reason, theyve played some good sets over the years. Wont be surprised if a couple gems show up (BOWA, YNK) at least thats what im hoping for. I plan on getting railed at this show too. One more week!

hershey 09 was absolutely brutal. i almost fell asleep during that #41.

that and governors island are up there for me as far as worst shows.

09 Hershey show was miles away the worst DMB concert ive ever seen. The only song worth writing home about was Seek Up, and the entire intro was botched.

For Christ's sake he teased Shotgun to open the show and went into Squirm, talk about blue balls. I love Squirm live now but in 09 it was awful.

2004 > 2000 > 2003 > 2008 > 2002 > 2010 > 2006 > 1999 > 2001 > 2005

Seriously though, every one of the shows was at least very good, save for 2005.

i heard dive in from the parking lot, they might as well have played the whole album, i didn't feel fantastic when seven started, but i tried to keep a smile on... by jimi thing i was getting pissed, bayou i had a red face, #41 i walk out.

yeah. i sat for most of the show and i normally never do that. it was the biggest waste of 100 dollars ever i think.

the DDTW was the best performance of the night. even watchtower felt very rushed. just a disaster.

we started heading out as watchtower started. many were.

i wouldnt of even care if it went into halloween because i just came off SPAC and starlake a month before. those were real shows.

soundcheck, sorry, should have clarified, they played it like 10 fucking times, and Mraz played if i had a boat, that was actually fun. for all you hershey goers, you can always hear the soundcheck from the parking lot, i heard a nice blue water (partial albeit) in 2010 along with a bunch of carter solo's.

Ohhh yeah ok I remember now.

Mraz was actually awesome as an opener. ZBB was better, but out of all the openers Ive seen those were easily the top 2.

I have nothing against it personally, its the crime rate that scares the crap out of me and the people hanging around your car at the hotel trying to break into it. We are outsiders to all the locals there and its like Christmas when we show up. I am always on my guard in this town.
All the renovations to the stadium cant hide the fact that its still one of the highest crime rated town in the state.

I love Hershey. That and Camden are my home venues. Hershey '08 was my first DMB show ever. Loved every second of it. That encore was just flat out fantastic. Go to the show. You'll enjoy yourself. Make a trip to Chocolate World while you're at it.

Around the venue is fine and you should never stay in Camden. Stay in Philly. Seems like that is where the issue is.
