Ya Gotta Do Much More Than Believe...

I love how the band has all their kids and their kids friends singing on the album version! I'm sure you've already heard it... But I just wanted to post it anyway... I hope they make a video out of it- oh they won't- why- because it's their kids morons!!!!!! Just figured that out while I was typing... Just wanted to see them all happy and singing Anyway... Enjoy your Saturday!!!!!

Re: Ya Gotta Do Much More Than Believe...

its the children's choir from the school dave's kids go to. not the band's kids. i don't even know if dave's girls are part of the choir. it might just be kids from their school with no other connection than dave's girls go there.

EDIT- and ya, i'm not too crazy about that part either. i like that part live, but not on the album. it sounds cheesy having kids singing on a professional music album.

I wouldn't mind the kids signing if they were signing different lyrics.

I'd invite you to tell that to Pink Floyd.

True, but I really don't mind the kids on Gaucho. They could have transitioned them in a little better, but other than that I have no real issue.

That part of the song has potential to be HUGE. I love Gaucho musically, it has a big sound to it.

Enjoy the song, but the the studio version with the kids singing makes me cringe. Don't know why, but I find it rather corny. I dig it live though

What about Another Brick In the Wall Pt. 2 and Happy X-Mas (War Is Over)?

Re: Ya Gotta Do Much More Than Believe...

The kids singing can be professional and sound good. It just happens to not be in this instance because the lyrics are horrible.

Re: Ya Gotta Do Much More Than Believe...

Well, for me the two best parts of Gaucho are the Bridge and the kids singing. I love those parts.

Some people here just will never be satisfied with Dave's lyrics. Personally I think, "you gotta do much more than believe, if you really wanna change things," is a good line. I swear that if WWYS and Granny came out today, everyone would chastise both songs because of their lyrics.

Re: Ya Gotta Do Much More Than Believe...

I have mixed emotions about the kids part in the song. On one hand it's super cheesey but when you think about songs like another brick in the wall it works. I think it works for a song like that because of how legendary it is. Either way, I love the song in the live setting.

There are very few Dave songs that I can't listen to after one listen because they're so bad. This is one of them.

My opinion of this song changes daily. Some days I can look past the horrible chorus. I agree with people who are comparing it to Time Bomb. They're both missing something...

I hate Happy X-Mas with a passion... those kids are so annoying and out of tune, it grates my ears and grinds my gears.

I'd put Gaucho somewhere between those two in the category of tasteful children BGVs.

Re: Ya Gotta Do Much More Than Believe...

I'm sorry but everytime I hear this song I get chills. I love the entire first 2 or 3 minutes, every note is so perfectly done. Then the music drops out, the kids build up and the band breaks back in for a great jam just to have it fall back out with only Dave singing so perfectly at the end.

The lyrics hit home to me too. I am having my first child in September and I can see myself having that conversation with her telling her about USA's/the worlds past and how great we were and how the world has changed for the worse and we need to work to get it back. And it isn't only about politics, it is about how people treat each other, how we interact and everything. Technology has people forgetting what is important about relationships and life.

Love the song more than any first studio song since DDTW.
