Do you have a good life or a bad life and why?

If you have a good life tell us why it's good and what you did to make your life a good one. So, don't just say, "I married my best friend and have a great job." What did you do to even start dating the girl/guy and what did you do in order to get that great job?

If you have a bad life tell us why and what you did or didn't do that makes it bad. What could you do to turn it around?

I'll start.

I have a pretty good life. I'm 26 years old and work for the federal government so my job security is incredibly high. The pay isn't bad either. I get to travel quite a bit to some pretty cool locations which is great for me because growing up I wasn't well traveled at all. My senior year in college I was determined to find a job so classes were put on the back-burner as I hunted for jobs pretty much all of second semester. Got a job right out and put in my time there as I searched for the job I ultimately wanted. Government job. I applied to as many jobs as I could find and because I stayed on top of the search I found an internship program. I applied, got an interview and due to me researching who I was going to be working for and what they did specifically I was able to knock the interview out of the park. So, as I said, with the job I get to travel but I also get to see some really cool things.

The only downside to my life is that I'm single and have been for a while. I'm possibly moving in a few months so I'm waiting for that to happen before I really hit that search hard.

I thought this could be a cool thread and people who say they have bad lives could maybe get advice from those who have good lives about what they did to make their lives better.

So, come on!

Good life. Have a job, so that's a plus. My job (structural engineer) is exciting and challenging and I like the people I work with. I have to work 50-60 hrs/wk quite often but it is worth it. Live in one of the best cities in the world (Chicago) in a nice apartment, and most importantly I have a great girlfriend who I've been with for more than two years. So yeah, things are good.

I have it pretty good, albeit stressful. I'm just about 25 years old, finishing up my first year of a three year doctor of physical therapy program. My first summer session semester is ending Friday, we get a week off, start another 6 week semester then get our first long break (roughly 4 weeks, our longest so far has been ten days) until our first 12 week clinical rotation, which I'm really looking forward to. I really like PT, it's really interesting, especially since my school is big on manual therapy (we use our hands a hell of a lot)

I don't have a girlfriend and haven't had one for some time, but that doesn't bother me too much seeing the majority of my days are spent in the library studying anyway.

That's awesome man! Cool to see a fellow PT student here! I will be starting my first year of PT school next month so I guess my life is pretty good but will be stressful for the next couple of years. Where do you go to school?

My life is good. I'm close with my family, have friends that would do anything for me, have a crew to go out and party with, enough money to do whatever I want within reason (and sometimes out of reason), a bright future, and lots of time to get a ton more done.

Shit man I thought I was the only one. I go to the University of New England, it's in Portland, Maine.

I'm not sure how your program is set up but our first year is pretty intense, you go basically non stop for the first year, then clinical one, a semester of class, clinical two, last semester, clinical three.


Where are you heading? Any idea how your program is set up? I always find it interesting to compare the different approaches. If you need any help/advice let me know man. Enjoy your freedom for the next month.

i have a great life.

i studied and worked hard to leave college with a double major and no debt. shortly after i found a position in my field. that was only last summer. since then i have received two promotions. i am already planning on buying a house with all the money i am saving.

Great. Go to an excellent school, no family issues, have good friends, have the leisure of a ton of free time with which to have fun, and can afford mostly everything I need.

My life is awesome. I have a loving and supportive family and great friends whom I trust. I go to school doing what I like to do. I enjoyed my classes last year, I'm looking forward to my classes this year, and I got an awesome housing assignment. And I'm studying abroad in the spring, going to Europe for the first time. I have a job right now that I enjoy. I get to go do things I like, like see dave matthews band.

And of course, if I'm hungry or thirsty, I can eat or drink. If I need to find a piece of information, I can get it from my phone in my pocket. I have a good life.

Good thread Robert . I don't often think about how lucky I am to have everything working out (so far), and this was a nice reminder.

I often think to myself that I'm lucky I live in a society where I have access to medical care, I'll be able to feed my children, and where it's not socially acceptable for my husband to beat and rape me. There are women in this world who can't say the same.

my life is okay. i have depression and sometimes it feels like working hard in college isn't worth it. my parents are really supportive, but i hate talking about my depression with them and they don't understand why and it leads fights sometimes. i also suck with girls. i have a lot of good friends and have fun in college, can eat and drink when i'm hungry/thirsty and have money so i can't complain too much.

I'm extremely happy with where my life is right now.

All things considered, I'm very lucky. I graduated with my B.S. in December, and had a job lined up right out of school. Started a month after I graduated (took time to enjoy graduation + spent 2 weeks up in northern Wisconsin with my girlfriend and her family for NYE), and have since been promoted, and am making great money (especially for my age).

I got really lucky getting this job. Found it through my universities alumni network, and just interviewed for it. No connections, don't know anyone in the industry (which is really rare for someone to be hired into the industry I work in and not have any connections, etc.)...I got lucky. It allows me some nice perks. A week in Dallas at a luxury hotel, drinking by a rooftop pool and going out to steak dinners on the company's dollar...taking customers (on the company's dollar) to see DMB at Riverbend, etc.

I'm also dating an incredible girl that I plan on marrying. We met in a class in college (our "how we met" story is as cheesy, cliche romantic as they get). Immediately there was something different about her, even though she walked into class with sweatpants, an old tshirt and a ponytail every day. In fact, that helped the case, I think. I thought she was gorgeous and from what I could tell, incredibly fun. Love her to death, and plan on proposing sometime in the next 6 months or so. Sometime before Christmas. Need time to figure out where we plan on being in a year or so (her job is going to cause her to move probably in the next year to year and a half), and I want to be financially a lot more stable (have a solid savings account going so I can put down a down payment on a house, etc).

Things are going really well for me, all things considered. I'm very happy with my life.

I don't always appreciate it to the extend that I should, but I have a fantastic life.

I am paid well to work for a company that has a mission I completely believe in. That company is helping me pay for the Master's degree I'm currently working on that will only further my career.

Personally, I'm dating an amazing girl. She is one of the best persons I have ever met, and someone who motivates me to be a better person every day. I absolutely adore her and see a bright future ahead of us. Aside from that, I am healthy as an ox and have a close group of friends and family to support me and share with me everything that I do.

Fairly awesome. I just graduated college in May. Thanks to my parents, I have no debt to pay off. Am working part-time currently as a bartender at a golf course so I'm making a decent amount of money right now. I'm living at home so I have no expenses/rent to pay. I would like to have a full time job come the Fall but we'll see, I've been applying like crazy. It's a bitch when my parents ride my ass about finding full time work but they payed for my education so they have a right to push me.

As of today, I am off probation for possession which is a relief. I have an awesome group of friends both from high school as well as college. I'm actually going out to Baltimore and Atlantic City this weekend to visit a bunch of my college friends that I haven't seen since graduation back in May.

Downside: I was diagnosed with epilepsy back in October. I'm on a couple of meds and will be for a while. So that blows, but I deal with it and still try to have as much fun as possible.

I have an almost good life.

I'll explain...So I am 26 years old and still in school. I say an almost good life because of my current situation. I graduated with a Comm degree 4 years ago. Sadly, I knew I would never use it because I want to go into medicine. So that leaves me as a 26 year old with several per-reqs still needed before I can apply to Med or PA school. The almost good life comes from the fact that I know I will achieve my dream one day. However, it is very difficult watching all my friends making 50k + a year and living on there own, while I still make 15 and hour at my ER Tech job and am now living with my parents again to save money.

I have a wonderful girlfriend who I have been dating for almost 4 years. She is very supportive and is currently in school changing her career as well. I don't believe that I would be able to make it through school without having someone else wih me along the way reminding me there is light at the end of the tunnel.

In about 4-5 years I should be completely done with school, my girlfriend should be done with school, and we can live like adults on our own finally. That will be a great life!

When I think about it, my life is pretty damn good. After toiling through law school then landing a judicial clerkship, I have an awesome job with a great law firm. I am in the process of buying a condo/bachelor pad. I have a loving and supportive family and an awesome group of friends. Two of my best friends in the world had their first child yesterday and I get to play 'uncle.' I am going to Alpine next weekend with two of my other close friends. I'm relatively healthy.

The only thing I'm missing is a lovely lady, but I'm efforting.
