People need to understand that this is DMB 3.0. You will never have 1.0 (91-00) or 2.0 (2001-2007) ever again. Just enjoy what you have while you still have it.

If you inspire a full band Blue Water, I will forever thank you until the day I'm dead and gone.

Re: Blue Water @ Alpine Valley N1

Here's what I PM'd out to everyone who was interested in making a sign. If anyone else is interseted, feel free to jump in!

Hey Everyone,

I think we have 5-6 people interested in holding signs (if smashvacation's friend is in).

Holding them up when the band comes out and between the 4th and 5th songs should work well if they are willing to play it. I'd rather not keep track of how many songs they've played to coordinate times to hold up signs late into the show. After the 4th/5th song, if they still havent played it, I say hold up your sign if you want! I've found that waiting until dave turns towards the audience to hold up your sign is the best way to get his attention without pissing off the people behind you. I honestly don't think anyone but Dave has any pull in whether they play Blue Water or not.

In the past it took a few glances from Dave to finally play the song (Iowa 2009 and Alpine 2010 in particular) so don't get discouraged!

If we don't end up getting it N1, feel free to bring the sign N2! Here's to an awesome weekend!

Ok, you get 5 seconds damn it
I agree, how many times do the band members have to say how much they hate signs. Just go to the show with an open mind and enjoy the setlist that they play...

a 3 minute blue water is better than a 1 minute good good time with no capo IMO

Wow! Even happened exactly as the Op originally suggested... in between the 3rd and 4th songs. That's pretty awesome!

I can't thank you guys in the pit enough for what u did. I never thought I'd hear this song in any form. I had chills for the entire first half of the show after he played it. Now if only I can hear dreaming tree, I'd be the happiest person alive lol. Thanks again guys!!!!!

Re: Blue Water @ Alpine Valley N1

Way to go guys. Got the song - 3 mins +. So that brings me to the most important question now, what is being requested tomorrow? Minarets, Halloween, Dreaming Tree, PFWYG, One Sweet World. That's my reasonable request list. Any of those would be great after N1.

if they played song like BOWA, Minarets, Dreaming Tree, etc regularly instead of playing songs like Eh Hee at every single venue they go to, then we wouldn't have to make signs or do twitter campaigns. they don't have to completely stop playing songs or play the songs we make signs for 30 times a tour. just give them all equal representation. bartender tends to get 10-15 plays a year. if you go to a handful of shows, you're bound to hear it. and you'll get it 2-3 times if you go to 8+. if they play everything equally and you don't get a song one year after going to 5 shows, then it was just bad luck rather than the band (dave) being stubborn. but you probably would have seen something else 2-3 times instead. we'd all be happy then.

This song should have never disappeared for how long as it has. What a near musical tragedy in this band's history.

Oh I don't know, Blue Water isn't very lyric intensive nor is it beyond musically something the band can play at the drop of a hat, The Dreaming Tree on the other hand requires prep time to pull off successfully.

After the band quieted down, Dave started playing the breakdown riff where Boyd comes in, and then stopped. FML, but still a solid tease for sure.

Re: Blue Water @ Alpine Valley N1

Does anyone think we will ever see a full version of blue water before they retire? Or do you think it will always be just a 3 minute version when requested. Even the dmb crew puts it as a partial, so I feel like the band knows its only part of the song, Im curious if they have any intention of one day playing it in full again. What do you guys think?

Yes, when they are way past their prime and another member is gone. When the crowds are not as big, nor are they

Jeff and Boyd both looked ready to play more... Oh well. Great night one show! Band was on stage at 8:27 and off after encore at 11:38. Long goddamn show!
