I think this is very true. Like all of us, Dave's life situations have changed over the years. At one time we got a cool story about him tripping on the beach, and now we get to hear about his kid learning to swim. I didn't get into this band because of Dave's song writing, I got into this band because of Dave's guitar, his voice and the band rocking the shit out of all their songs. Music far outweighs lyrics IMO.

I like this song. It has a good chorus and a Boyd solo, two things that have been missing from new DMB material for a while. This one and The Riff are definitely better than most songs on BW in my opinion. I really dislike Gaucho, and I think If Only is kinda meh, but if the rest of the new songs are like Belly Belly Nice and The Riff, I'll be a happy camper.

From what I've heard so far, my opinion is that these newer tunes are right above Stand Up, and right below Big Whiskey when I compare it to the band's newer albums (i.e. I personally believe that the band isn't in the same place as the Big 3, never will be again, and I've accepted that)

On BWGGK, I absolutely love Squirm, Lying In The Hands, Baby Blue, Spaceman (this IMO has especially improved recently) and even SMLAM.

Those tunes, for me, are all more impressive than the newest AFTW plays. (I'm withholding complete judgement as they aren't the studio cuts) but we'll see I guess.

Wow. I just listened to this song 4 times in a row, and I like it more and more each time. I listened to a few seconds of Dreaming Tree--then I put Belly Belly Nice back on. DMB Stream switched to BEF--I put Belly Belly Nice back on. I don't know why, but I love this song, and that really excites me. The only post-2002 song I like more than this one is Crazy Easy. Flame away, but right now, I would even take it over WWYS any day. I have accepted the fact that DMB will probably never make another awesome, eclectic, world-music-y sounding song like most of the Big 3. However, Belly Belly Nice shows that Dave can still write a catchy pop song.

Haha sounds good, I'm definitely planning to listen to it when I get a chance. I just wasn't in the mood for a 15 minute song right now. The little bit of the tape that I heard sounded really good though.

what a let down...

the verse is "Too Much" verbatim and the chorus is decent to forgettable at best.

so far the only great songs are "Sweet" and "Mercy" -- "Drunken Soldier" seems to have a lot of potential. Based on what we've all heard IMO BWGGK is miles above this collection. we'll see. I'm still hopelessly hopeful.

I can't agree. For me Mercy is on par with BW, the others might get there but not yet.

Not bad but just ok so far. As for The Riff, the riff itself is ok but the words are silly.

Good song. Sounds like DMB is going funk. I still think Shotgun, Break Free, Idea of You, Kill the King, Jackpot, Crazy Easy, Dream So Real, and Sugar Will are far better songs and would make for a wayyy better album. Dumb bastards...

Anybody else see this song being used as a closer/encore closer and eventually evolving to fit that role well? Just how it feels to me, I think it could go anywhere Billies can go, even though it's not quite the same.

Again, sounds like Too Much/Joyride/SMLaM/Billies to me

Yeah for sure, but thats what ants is right? A place for the 1% minority to complain . I kid.

But this song really is alot of fun live, got everyone moving. Cant say as much about Mercy or If only, which I do like alot btw. This song will definitely be the next single. And I dont know if anyone else noticed, but I feel like where they ended the song still has a ton of jamming possibility. It seemed to end abruptly, I was kind of expecting boyd to continue and play a solo there.

But for a first play, having seen the debut of If Only at Blossom, BBN seemed very tight but relaxed at the same time. That was one hell of a performance, they didnt seem nervous about playing it at all, which is something I noticed right away with If Only. They must have practiced it quite a bit.
