The band will play what they want. You can enjoy it, stop going, or go on the internet and complain about it. people here choose the third option.

Re: DMB Performing at Govenor's Island

Govenor's Island is where the Statue of Liberty is. Where they all perform from on July 4th.

Well I have a few sources... and they are all coming from the city. I wouldn't post false information.

Re: DMB Performing at Govenor's Island

actually i didnt belive it untill i saw the hotel notes, i work for a hotel in the city (which will remain nameless to keep my job) But there are several hotels in the area with blocks totaling 500 rooms, for 3 days. They all have the same notes. "DMB concert on governors island" for 4th of july weekend. i guess you will all have to wait till warehouse surprises us.

Close. LIBERTY island is where the statue of liberty is. Governor's Island is just to the south of manhattan, and if you've ever seen a pic, it has a very small golf course (only one hole), if i remember correctly. I remember getting a good view when I was at the top of the twin towers four years ago.

Re: DMB Performing at Govenor's Island

Well if this is true, and it is the fesival, I sure as hell hope we find out before March 27. If I'm going to a three day festival, I'm not going to buy tickets for two nights at Camden.

Re: DMB Performing at Govenor's Island

Closures
Governors Island is currently closed to the public. As a new national monument, the site is not fully operational and services and facilities are extremely limited. Public access will be provided this summer, but only by guided tour. Guided walking tours will be offered from Memorial Day to Labor Day 2004. Details on tour schedules and fees will be announced late spring.

Governors Island's can be used in other ways that might provide a benefit to an individual, group or organization, rather than the public at large. Since public access is regulated at this time, any request to use National Park Service properties on Governors Island is considered a special park use and requires written authorization not only from the National Park Service, but the Governors Island Preservation and Education Corporation.

If no one is allowed there without a tour guide I highly doubt that they'll gonna let thousands upon thousands of irresponsible drunks party there.

Actually now that I think about it, why else would they block off 500 rooms in the city for DMB??? Hmm, very interesting.. imagine if it is for the festival????? Holy Crap!! It didn't hit me that it could be for a festival until now and reading all the posts..

The only information I received was it was for a DMB concert at Govenor's Island..

Re: DMB Performing at Govenor's Island

Govenor's Island is right off the south end of Manhatten. It was last used as a Coast Guard base. I spent a couple weeks there shooting a video for the GSA, back when they planned to auction it off. Plans changed after 9-11-2001 -- and the Feds gave it to New York City. It has a couple large green areas, that might be usable for a Central Park type concert. Access was by Ferry.

It also has what's left of a 1700's fort, and the tunnel ventilation building that was was used as the exterior of the headquarters building for the Men In Black movies.

Re: DMB Performing at Govenor's Island

I think that DMB will just be performing at like the Macy's Fourth Of July Fireworks Spectacular or somethin like that.

I consider all the rumours right now bullshit. It's all bullshit until its officially announced

Eh, there are much worse out there. I'm not getting excited yet, but wondering about it and contemplating my first trip to NYC is pretty fun. Roll with it, who cares if it's a rumor.

I don't think rumors get more far fetched than this one. Next thing you know DMB will be performing on the top of the Empire State Building to a cheering audience of 15000.

Re: DMB Performing at Govenor's Island

This is not a rumor. I have never posted a rumor before...I posted the information because I have information about it. I thought everyone would be excited about hearing about this, but I guess not.

I understand how people can be frustrated about hearing rumors all the time, but please understand, i would not have posted the information if I didn't have proof of it.

I dont know what this is for.. I dont know if it's for Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks special or a Festival. All I have is the information I have alrady given.
