Dave And Tim Get A Vinyl Release    Live Releases
Posted by Jake Vigliotti 3/11/10 2:22pm
Dave Matthews And Tim Reynolds are contributing a release to Record Store Day. The release will feature Squirm and Lying In The Hands Of God, according to Radio Active Records, and will be a 7" Vinyl. That's a little record for those not in the know. Both songs were recorded live from the 2009 Dave and Tim Las Vegas shows. The vinyl goes on sale at specific locations (see below) April 17 and should be priced around $3.49 (or so).

Record Store Day is a celebration of independently owned record stores. That means non-chain. To find a local independently owned record store near you, use the Record Store Day search. Please note that not every store listed necessarily will have every release listed above, so contact the store you wish to visit to make sure they have the said vinyl(s) you want to buy. Especially the Dave and Tim one, which will certainly be a collectors item quite quickly.

DMB Opens Europe Store; DMBLive Info    Band Brand
Posted by Jake Vigliotti 3/5/10 7:49pm

The consecutive years touring in Europe has paid off for the Dave Matthews Band fans across the pond. The Warehouse announced the opening of a NEW ONLINE MERCHANDISE STORE based in Europe. European orders will ship from the United Kingdom, which will expedite the shipping process (and save you folks some Yen! Or whatever you use over there) All orders received prior to Midnight GMT March 7 will receive a 10% discount. Use the code DMB-63K8-3Z1D-T16T to get sum discount(s). You can directly access the Europe store here.

Also, in case you missed it, DMBLive released a new show, 10.24.96 from Austin, Texas. This show is the first multi-track show to be released in the DMBLive series. That's a good thing, mainly because it leads one to believe that if they are willing to release a multi-track recordings from full band show now, surely they'll release more "soon". As with all DMBLive releases, the shows are digitally mastered, which means it's not just dumped into FLAC or MP3, but rather the levels are balanced for each track to make the recording sound equalized.

Lillywhite wants Simon's Idol Seat    Management
Posted by Joe Maliszeski 3/5/10 9:20am

I figured I'd give Steve (can I call you Steve?), Mr. Lillywhite, I little press via the site. You could say Steve Lillywhite gets a little attention from Dave Matthews Band fans, seeing as he produced the bands first three 'studio' albums, Under the Table and Dreaming, Crash, and Before These Crowded Streets (o, and you might have heard of one called The Lillywhite Sessions.). Though he is probably most famous for his work with U2, he also has worked with the Rolling Stones, Phish, Jason Mraz, and countless others. Most of the discussion about Steve Lillywhite here centers on the past, unless you were following Steve's radio show a few months ago when he talked about DMB and found the recording of Machead amongst his archives and promised to play it (he didn't, but talked in depth about it.) Now Steve wants a new gig. He wants Simon Cowell's seat on American Idol which will be open following this season. In the last two weeks Steve has put out the full court pressure campaign and has hired an agent and publicist to help. Via a YouTube "resume video" and interview with Billboard and other publications, he lists his accomplishments and how he fits the role. (In the video Lillywhite takes credit in foreseeing DMB's talent and wanting to produce them.) No doubt he is likely the most experienced person whose name is currently running around for the Idol spot and would actually add some credibility to the show. It comes off a little strong how hard he's pushing for it, but regardless we like Steve (:thumbsup). Downside is if he gets the Idol spot he'll have to dedicate six months to the show and won't be able to produce DMB's next studio album early 2011 albums.

For a bit of relevant Dave Matthews Band news, Stefan Lessard is quoted in the latest Rolling Stone about playing the Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King songs live, saying "It's time for us to start playing with these songs. The songs will start to progress differently onstage." He also makes his traditional pretour requests (don't we all?) "I'm always looking for the ones that I have fun playing and haven't played in a few years like "Crazy Easy," "Minarets" and "Joyride."

City Approves [band name] To Play Wrigley    Tour News
Posted by Joe Maliszeski 3/3/10 2:07pm

Today was the City Council Panel meeting that many of you were curious to hear about. We've been here before many times, only to get rejected at the last minute by that unfavorable vote. This time we owe it to local Aldermen Tom Tunney, the Cubs organization, and the local synagogues (the dates fall on Jewish holiday Yom Kippur) for their support because the vote passed the panel. Longtime active Ant, saxlover, was at the meeting to get the details. They passed the ordinance to allow 2 additional events at Wrigley, September 17th and 18th, for a concert but without a band mentioned. Rumors have been flying high that Dave Matthews Band are the ones slotted as the front runners for the spot and people at the council panel meeting seemed to believe it was DMB also. The plan will next go to the full City Council for consideration. So baring any Steve Bartman incidents and unlike 2007, DMB will be rocking Wrigley Field come September 17th and 18th.
