Silly Season Update

The downtime between tours has been a rather productive one for the Dave Matthews
Band. Here is a brief update on what each member is doing.
Boyd Tinsley has completed his solo album, finishing up the tracks in Los Angeles.
The album and a small tour should arrive in January, 2003, according to sources associated
with the band. The tracks are still being finalized, but antsmarching.org has confirmed
through the ever popular sources associated with the band that at least one guest will appear on the album. The role or roles of any or all guests is still unclear.
Dave Matthews, between solo shows, has spent a majority of his time in a small studio in the greater Seattle area. Matthews is basically, "jamming with some new friends",
according to sources familiar with the northwest music scene. Sources associated with the band
tell antsmarching.org that Dave is having fun, and not working on anything too seriously.
Matthews 2003 solo performances will run mainly in March, according to sources associated with student affairs committees at colleges and universities.
Stefan Lessard continues to jam in studio, off and on, as he did earlier this
year, and parts of the last. Sources close to the band say that Lessard has no timetable set
for a solo album, and the actual release, if any, is unclear. He also performed with
Gov't Mule and
Particle during
the break. Lessard will again attend the Winter X Games in January 2003.
LeRoi Moore contributed earlier this year to a yet to be released
Peter Griesar album. No other word on what the elusive Mr. Moore is doing.
Carter Beauford is an enigma, at least to us. Everyone we talked with assumed that Beauford was simply taking it easy, but there is no real word on Carter's time off. Feel free to tell someone what's up, Carter, so we can let everyone know.
And in the extended DMB family...
Peter Griesar, along with the above mentioned yet to be released album,
which sources tell antsmarching.org will be released before Christmas, has been busy as well. Greisar produced
a release by Meanflower. Greisar remains
active around the Charlottesville music scene.
Greg Howard and his champman stick are on tour throughout November,
according to Howard's website. Howard of course performed on The Dreaming Tree on
Before These Crowded Streets, and also occasionally breaks into a DMB tune live (not that you need an excuse to see him). Howard peformed One Sweet World a few years ago on a tour with Tim Reynolds.
Tim Reynolds is also hitting the road again. Reynolds has tour dates throughout November, according to his website. The only other confirmed show Tim has
is in March, in Colorado.
