Dave Did "Go Further" in the Studio
Posted by Joe Maliszeski in Band Side Projects at 9:30am on Friday, Jul 18th, 2003Dave Matthews makes an appearance in "Go Further", a film produced and directed by Ron Mann. The film features Woody Harrelson as he takes a small group of friends on a hempseed-oil fuelled bus-ride down the Pacific Coast Highway to promote environmentalism.
AntsMarching.org is told Woody Harrelson asked Dave if he would participate and contribute some music for the film. Dave readily agreed and two songs were recorded in Seattle at the studio where Dave was recording Some Devil. He performed solo acoustic versions (several takes) of both Everyday and One Sweet World. In the film, the studio version of Everyday is used, however the acoustic version and an interview with Dave will be on the DVD of "Go Further", which is expected out in about a year. The film closes with the acoustic version of One Sweet World. This is the first time One Sweet World is known to have been recorded in the studio since the Rutabaga Studio Sessions over 12 years ago.
"Go Further" opened the South By Southwest Festival in March where it received a standing ovation. The film will next be screened at the Toronto International Film Festival in Toronto, which is September 4th through the 13th (roughly the same time DMB will be in town for thier Toronto concert). Information about the festival and tickets can be found on the festival website. For more information about the film "Go Further" and other screening dates check out the official website.
