Charity, Community, and now Owner of Exclusive Mask
Posted by Joe Maliszeski in Charity at 1:45pm on Friday, Apr 23rd, 2004AM.org is proud to have such an exceptional and unique person as an original member and siteop. For those of you that post on the message boards you may know her as SharonB or as dreamingtree@antsmarching.org if you use the AM.org approved FTP servers. Sharon Bergamo of Connecticut characterizes Charity, Community and Crazy all with capital C's, (along with the help of her husband.) A month ago we reported on a one-of-a-kind mask designed by Dave Matthews for the 2004 Mask Project, a benefit auction to raise money for terminally ill patents and their families. Sharon won the mask with a winning bid of $3,010, the most expensive mask ever won on the internet, according to the 2004 Mask Project. But that is not all she has won for charity. She has also won, 13 times, front row tickets through the band's auction to benefit the BamaWorks Foundation, won front row for the Dave solo show at Benaroya Hall in Seattle to benefit the Bullitt Foundation, and front row for Dave and Tim at University of Massachusetts for the benefit of the Tiger Kloof School in Vryburg, South Africa, run by Dave Matthews’ uncle, also named Dave Matthews. Sharon has also purchased 3 VIP tickets for the Central Park concert to benefit New York and Charlottesville schools, and won a meet and greet with Dave, 2 tickets with limo for Hartford concert, and a sit-in interview with Dave for WTIC radio to benefit WeAreTheChildren.org. Aside from charity donations, Sharon also has maintained an approved FTP server since the beginning of AM.org and beyond helping spread DMB music, thanks to the tapers. At the age of 37 and an original member of the Warehouse fan club, Sharon has gone to 49 shows in less then 5 years time and many times holds parties before concerts for friends and AM.org members to meet and have a good time together. As her AOL screen name will testify, Sharon is quite the "true fan". AM.org would like to recognize Sharon and her husband for their donations to charity and thier contribution to the DMB community as they both the ones responsible for such great generosity.
