New Material Recorded (Dave Only)

Posted by Joe Maliszeski in Album News at 7:00pm on Friday, Jan 6th, 2006

Dave Matthews recorded new material at Robert Lang Studios in early November before the Winter Tour, accourding to the studio and an online article my Mix Magazine, a Professional Audio and Music Production publication. With him was, now producer, John Alagia, who worked with the band as a Mixer on studio albums up to Busted Stuff (not including Everyday of course), along with producing mixing and engineering all the live releases up to Central Park. He broke away from the band for a long time going on to produce albums for John Mayer, Jason Mraz, and O.A.R. but now has returned to record with Dave in the Studio.

Don't get too excited though because this isn't the first time Dave has done this. In early February of 2004 he did the same thing (in the same studio minus Alagia) but the most that fans got from it was an AOL Session recording. What will come from it? Your guess is as good as anyone's at this point. Thanks to Jaird for the tip.

UPDATE (1.7.06): Sources associated with the actions of the band tell antsmarching.org that Dave's above-mentioned solo work is in preparation for the latest DMB album. The entire band should be heading to the studio (that'd be the C'ville studio) in March. As widely rumored/reported, Mark Batson will be back to produce the follow up to Stand Up, according to sources.
