Did You See the Pix In Relix?
Posted by Jake Vigliotti in Magazine Appearances at 9:30am on Saturday, Feb 11th, 2006The best music magazine out there - Relix - proves their mettle with a great old school picture of DMB in the February/March issue (the one with Bob Weir on it).
DMB played New York's famous CBGB's on 8.22.92, a show we knew very little about previously. We don't know a whole lot more, but the picture does tell us a lot about the band's out-of-state 1992 tours.
The only DMB member not seen in the pix is Carter - blocked by Dave and Roi from the angle of the camera. But also in the picture is former keyboardist Peter Greisar - who once again sees his last name misspelled in a national publication (it's -ar, not -er), and former contributor to the band Miguel Valdez. Valdez played Bongos on numerous DMB shows in 1992. The song #34 is dedicated to the memory of Valdez, who died in early 1993. This is the only known picture of Valdez published (or seen anywhere for that matter) performing with DMB. That alone makes it worth it to pick up the issue of Relix alone.
