Matthews Supports Obama
Posted by Jake Vigliotti in Politics at 6:59pm on Monday, Feb 4th, 2008In a rare move for Dave Matthews, he has given his support to a Democratic candidate before the primary season has ended.
Dave announced that he supports Barack Obama. The fact that Dave went hard-left isn't a shock (Obama got the #1 ranking according to this report), but it's a new arena for Dave to throw his support to someone prior to the end of the primary season. In 2004, Dave was seen a few times at Howard Dean rallies, before proclaiming that the "Only Choice" for President was John Kerry.
And, of course, DMB once performed at President Bill Clinton's Inaugural Ball, which may have left some wondering if Dave would back Hillary.
If things fall apart for Obama in his Presidential bit (like not winning the primary), Dave will still be able to support another liberal candidate sure to get his party's endorsement; John McCain.
