Coffin to make it Jazzy with Marquette (and Others)
Posted by Joe Maliszeski in Band Side Projects at 3:54pm on Wednesday, Feb 18th, 2009

Jeff Coffin is set to play with the Marquette University Jazz Ensemble on Friday, February 13, at 7pm in the Varsity Theatre (Milwaukee, WI). (Guys think day before Valentines Day here.) The article is flattering enough to advertise Coffin as ‘Dave Matthews Band saxophonist’. The performance is free and open to the public. There are no tickets for the event; but it is first come, first served with a capacity of about 800. I’m not sure how much pull the Jazz Ensemble has normally but I’m sure Coffin’s appearance will boost it by one or two people. Coffin’s appearance is partially sponsored by the Yamaha Corporation and Cascio Interstate Music. If you go be sure to let us know how it was and if you noticed any Bela Fleck and the Flecktones or Dave Matthews Band parts. And for those of you in the Jazz Ensemble, ask him for some details on the album. The #8 Marquette Golden Eagles will not be playing that night so you won't be missing a game. Thanks to Joe (IAmNotAFatGirl) for the tip!
Also Jeff will be doing a
free sax clinic Saturday, February 14th from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm at Cascio Interstate Music in New Berlin, WI. The event is open to the public and will include photo and autograph
and album question opportunities. Doors will open at 10:00 a.m., and seating is limited. For more information you can call Cascio Interstate Music at (262) 789-7600. Thanks to DMBZeppelin for the tip!
