Dave Matthews - Racism Is Everywhere in America
Posted by Jake Vigliotti in Politics at 3:38pm on Monday, Sep 21st, 2009You may have heard about the hip new thing that the kids are trying out there, Hating on President Barack Obama because of his skin color. Well, you're not fooling one David J. Matthews. In an interview with CNN, he's aware of the ruse.
"I found there's a fairly blatant racism in America that's already there," Matthews said in discussing the opposition to some of President Obama's policies. "There's a good population of people in this country that are terrified of the president only because he's black, even if they don't say it. And I think a lot of them, behind closed doors, do say it."
And if you think that was the shocker of the interview, you'd be mistaken. When discussing Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King, Dave opined, "Our first three records were really good. We made good records after those first three - really good records - but I don't think they were necessarily the spirit of the band". Whereas Dave's political opinions may fall along party affiliation, Dave's in the vast minority with half of that statement.
