Gorge Caravan Supporting Acts Announced
Posted by Matt Yette in Tour News at 3:18pm on Thursday, Jul 17th, 2014When the Dave Matthews Band Summer 2014 Tour was announced, it was revealed that The Gorge Amphitheater would once again be receiving the "caravan" treatment; smaller, supporting acts would perform during the day, and DMB would headline the festival, performing each night of the three-night stand. Until now, the details of that lineup have been few and far between. Thanks to the official DMB Caravan site, we now know the list of bands that will be joining DMB on Labor Day Weekend in George, WA.
The main supporting act appears to be Brandi Carlile, who will be appearing daily. Performing on the caravan stage are the following acts: Shovels and Rope, Ana Tijoux, JD McPherson, Bombino, Dumpstaphunk, Moon Taxi, David Ryan Harris, and Betsy Olson.
The site also has a small FAQ addressing topics such as ticket pricing, performance times, and clears up a point of confusion to this point. The caravan was billed as having Dave Matthews Band performing "2 Full Sets Every Night." To this point in the Summer 2014 Tour, fans have become accustomed to seeing an acoustic set of around 8 songs, followed up by a more robust electric set averaging around 18 songs. That verbiage caused speculation that the acoustic sets during the caravan shows would be longer. Speculate no further; the FAQ question asking, "Will Dave Matthews Band perform 2 full sets like other shows on the 2014 summer tour?" (emphasis ours) seems to answer the question. The band considers their current 8 acoustic/18 electric set structure to represent "2 full sets," and it's highly likely the Gorge Caravan set structure will continue that trend.
