Posted by Jake Vigliotti in Band Brand at 7:24pm on Wednesday, Nov 21st, 2012
Dave has once again designed the labels - you may recall the 2009, 2010 and 2011 designs - this time Dave got his Pig on in 2012. Here's the skinny on the wines:
- The 2011 Painted Red is a blend of 53% cabernet franc, 26% syrah, and 21% malbec.
- The 2011 Painted White is a blend of 66% viognier, 18% roussanne, and 16% marsanne
This is a Pre-sale - the regular sale begins December 8. Any orders from November 21 to December 2 will receive, in addition to the fabulous wines - a limited edition, screen printed, numbered handbill. 10 random handbills will be signed by Dave Matthews.
You can visit the Blenheim Order Page and pick up the duo - White and Red for a cool $55. Orders by the case are also available. These go pretty quickly, so don't hesitate and order today! And tell em antsmarching.org sent ya!

What Does This Picture Have to do with Wine?
Posted by Jake Vigliotti in Band Brand at 4:08pm on Friday, Aug 12th, 2011
On August 11, the Dave Matthews Band facebook page put up the picture you see over there. That's all it took for the Ants investigation team (also known as a bunch of people on the message board) to tie it in to wine.
To easy you through the back-story, there have been rumors floating about that Dave is lending his name or a song name to a new wine (outside of his own Blenheim Vineyards wines - which are awesome btw). Full disclosure I received an email a few months ago tipping me off of the new label. That brings us up to the present. An Ant posted that this rumored wine is coming to fruition, and it will be called "Dreaming Tree". A winery called "Constellation Wines" in Canandaigua, NY holds that trademark. Constellation Brands is the parent company of Robert Mondavi wines - you know, the same Bobby M where Dave performed in 2009. And if Constellation sounds familiar, and I'm not talking stars, that's because Dave and Tim performed at in 2010 in... you guessed it, Canandaigua. Interesting...
What does it mean? Well, who knows. But if you think you can just put up some picture on your facebook, Mr. Matthews, without having people jump to conclusions, you, good sir, are mistaken.
UPDATE: A few folks that have tried the wine - which is still unofficial -say it will unofficially be available in late September/early October. Follow that?
UPDATE #2: Well well well... look who has a website up. It's Dreaming Tree Wine. Scroll to the bottom and you'll see a note about tastings at The Gorge during the DMB Caravan stop.
Dave Facilitates Bama Relief Show
Posted by Jake Vigliotti in Band Brand at 9:00am on Thursday, Jun 16th, 2011On June 14, a tornado relief concert in Birmingham, AL - to benefit those devastated by the tornadoes throughout Alabama - raised over $2 million. What you didn't know was that Dave Matthews helped the concert get off the ground.
According to billboard, the concert - organized in part by Dave Matthews Band manager Coran Capshaw - had its production costs underwritten by Dave Matthews at a cost of $100,000.
DMB has a long history of performing in the Yellowhammer state. Folks can still donate to this cause at bamarising or charitybuzz.
Happy 20th Anniversary Dave Matthews Band
Posted by Jake Vigliotti in Band Brand at 1:54pm on Monday, Mar 14th, 2011It's hard to believe that until not too long ago, we all thought that the very first Dave Matthews Band show was on that cool date of 4/20 (1991). But now we know the truth.
March 14, 1991, a group of guys that looked more like a bus stop than a band sauntered on stage at the now-legendary (by their own hand) Trax Nightclub and played their first live show. The band had only been playing together for a bit over a month or so when they did play that first gig.
The entirety of the early 1991 shows is a bit of a mystery; we know of this show, the 4/20 show, the first paid gig, and a surprise party for Stefan. We're not even exactly sure when the band started playing their weekly gigs at Eastern Standard.
But it was 20 years ago that Dave Matthews Band got their start. And after 20 years, they, and we, are still here dancing.
DMB takes on Bon Jovi in ESPN Bracket "Best Band" Contest
Posted by Jake Vigliotti in Band Brand at 12:11pm on Monday, Mar 7th, 2011Radio DJ Colin Cowherd and his team of producers and call-screeners have devised a 64-"team" tournament similar to the NCAA Basketball tournament, only with musical bands. So naturally they want you to vote for your favorite bands in the match-ups. Dave Matthews Band has drawn a #12 seed, taking on #5 Bon Jovi in the first round match-up.
Yes, I know, we all know, DMB deserves a higher seed, blah blah blah. It's all a publicity stunt anyway, so the seeding doesn't really matter (although it's worth pointing out that #12's always knock off #5's in real life). To cast your vote for DMB, follow the link here. Even if you don't usually vote in these things, it'll certainly tick everyone off if DMB makes a big run; and that alone, for the humor of it, got my vote. It should get yours too.
Gossip Site Update, and DMB By The Numbers
Posted by Jake Vigliotti in Band Brand at 6:56am on Wednesday, Jan 5th, 2011It didn't take very long for emails to come in discussing "Dave-as-homeless-person" sightings. Perhaps the most interesting is from 2002, when a rumor traveled through Seattle that Dave was sitting outside Pike Place Market and playing. This was prior to anyone knowing that the Matthews Clan had moved to the Seattle area, there seems to be an element of truth to the story.
There are other stories of Dave actually performing on the street that we can confirm. In 2002 and 2006, Dave did play in London randomly. In 2006, he was spotted by some fans. So we do know that Dave has "recently" performed on the street.

But none of this makes the blind-item true. And no one has stepped up saying they've seen him in 2010. In fact, more people have said it isn't true than it is. Even Stefan doubted it, via his twitter, saying, "Not sure, it's sounds a bit tough to do with the schedule this year! Plus, I might have noticed the extra personal AKA film crew". So we're leaning "non" on this supposed true gossip item.
The Slate has come up with a by-the-numbers listing of the success of Dave Matthews Band and their tours. It's an interesting read, however we think that some of their numbers - including The Warehouse membership, are understated.
Christmas Song on DMB's Youtube Channel
Posted by Jake Vigliotti in Band Brand at 10:17pm on Monday, Dec 20th, 2010In an email from The Warehouse mentioning the last-second Christmas specials at the DMB Store, a link is provided to the band's youtube page. Located there is Christmas Song, from the Dave and Tim 2009 in Las Vegas (12.12.09).
If this is your first venture into the bands youtube page, you'll probably be surprised to see quite a few performances there. There are four performances from the 2010 Citi Field shows (over both nights), and a few promotional videos from the run up to Big Whiskey And The GrooGrux King. Check it out if you haven't yet.
