The Cali Interview with Stefan

Posted by Jake Vigliotti in Radio Appearances at 8:33pm on Tuesday, Nov 30th, 2010

By now you know Cali of Mix 104.1 in Boston. He is not only a Dave Matthews Band fan, but gets the opportunity to interview the band as well. Prior to the Antsmarching.org/Mix 104.1 Pre-Party, he had a chance to sit down with Stefan and bounce a few questions off of him. Head on over to the Cali page and give a listen to Stefan talk about all sorts of things, including some of the beloved 2004 songs.

Stefan Interview From Boston

Posted by Jake Vigliotti in Radio Appearances at 7:59pm on Wednesday, Jun 9th, 2010

During the Dave Matthews Band stop in Boston, Cali, famous for his outstanding interviews with the band (you can hear all of the past ones here), had a chance to catch up with Stefan before night 2 in Mansfield June 8.

Fonz covers a lot of subjects, including a lot on Leroi Moore, and the 2011 tour break (it'll answer a lot of questions and settle a lot of people's stomachs and get the entire continent of Australia jumping up and down). You can hear the interview here via the Mix 104.1 official site.

Warning: If you are a fan of Monkey Man, you may have a myocardial infraction around the 14 minute mark.

UPDATE: Part II, complete with MacHead and Spotlight mentions, is here

DMB Radio Marathon

Posted by Jake Vigliotti in Radio Appearances at 6:33am on Thursday, Dec 10th, 2009

December 10 (that should be today if you're reading this, well, today), WFAL Falcon Radio is holding their annual DMB Marathon. You can listen to the event via their website. Listeners can also call in requests for songs (419-372-9325) or email requests (dmbmarathonii@gmail.com). The marathon begins at 8am ET, and runs until 8pm. If you can't follow along, you can check out the live set list on-line.

In past years, they've had famous people associated with the band phone in (Tim Reynolds of note). And in a 'better than nothing' scenario, they've tricked yours truly into phoning in. So if you want to give a listen to my ramblings, it should occur around Noon-to-1pm ET. If you have a chance, give em a listen!

DMB To Shoot Epic Video?

Posted by Jake Vigliotti in Radio Appearances at 8:47pm on Monday, Aug 24th, 2009

The Screen Actors Guild put out the call for, "musicians in the LA area to take part in an 'epic musical' video for Dave Matthews Band to be aired on MTV and VH1." So you'd certainly think that DMB is preparing a video shoot for their latest single, You and Me. The current single, Why I Am received a live-video release on the internet using video from the Brixton Shows, with some cover from some sites around England, so it seems that Why I Am is out for another video.

The video will be begin videotaping August 31, in the greater Los Angeles area. And wouldn't you know it, DMB is off that day too.

UPDATE: The casting director confirms that the video is for You and Me.

Two Songs in the Top 10 Triple A Charts for DMB

Posted by Jake Vigliotti in Radio Appearances at 2:50pm on Monday, Aug 17th, 2009

Dave Matthews Band is enjoying some uncommon radio success. The latest single, Why I Am is holding at #7. Not too shabby for a song that has only been hyped via an appearance on Letterman and an internet live video based on the Brixton Academy video which isn't an official release yet (more on that later...) . Funny The Way it Is is holding at #10, after peeking at #1 earlier this year on the Triple A charts. Why I Am jumped up in the past few weeks, climbing from #17 to #12 and now, #7. Why I am is generally considered the strongest single since Grey Street in terms of overall song, and Grey Street only reached #18 on the Hot Adult charts, so Why I Am has that going for it; still, it's not as high up as some expected.

The next single is also all set, and it's not exactly a shocker. You and Me will be released to radio stations on August 24. Sometimes singles are delayed, as Why I Am was, so if it doesn't hit exactly in a week, it'll be some Monday shortly thereafter.

Thanks to Ants user DJGeneral for the info!

DMB To Host Sirius XM Programming

Posted by Jake Vigliotti in Radio Appearances at 10:02am on Saturday, May 30th, 2009

On June 1, the Dave Matthews Band will take over channel Jam_ON on the pay radio service Sirius XM and bombard it with DMB Programming, The Official Site reports. The programming begins on June 1 at Noon on Sirius channel 17, XM channel 56. All the songs from Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King will be played at one point, and every night until June 7 you can hear a recorded live show.

Additionally, DMB will be appearing on the CBS News Sunday Morning TV program May 31. The official RCA site actually lists DMB as "performing" on the show, but we have a hard time believing that DMB will be up that early after the May 30 show at Fenway to go play in New York in the early morning. Regardless, if you don't have a shot at waking up early on a Sunday, at least set your DVR. CBS had camera crews in Charlottesville, VA and interviewed fans for their reaction to the band.

Fonzi On DMB Happenings

Posted by Jake Vigliotti in Radio Appearances at 8:45pm on Thursday, Jul 8th, 2004

Friend of DMB Cali, of WBCN radio in Boston, did another of his stellar interviews with a DMB member, Stefan (again). Fonzie gave out some good info during the interview, including: the names of the 4 new songs are indeed as every fan site has them listed (Crazy-Easy, Joy Ride, Hello Again, Sugar Will), various producers may work on the new album, and after the tour the band is doing "other things".

The almost 18 minute interview touches on numerous DMB subjects. Of great interest, Stefan goes into specific detail on the care of choosing each setlist. The WBCN link above leads to the interview.
