Dave's Rockbridge Guitar Maker in Austin for the show
Posted by Jake Vigliotti in Random Appearances at 11:28am on Thursday, May 16th, 2013
Brian Calhoun built Dave's guitar, and other popular models of Rockbridge Guitars. He will be displaying demo models of his guitars, including the SJ (Dave's model) in Austin this weekend. If you'd like to check out his models, hit Brian up via email (rockbridgeguitar@gmail.com) and he will give you more details. Regardless of your skill level at guitar (from Smoke on the Water to Tim Reynolds on the guitar!) this is a pretty sweet opportunity to get your mitts on some nice guitars. You can also do the facebook thing for Rockbridge. Tell your guitar playing Texas-based friends!
Yukon Kornelius to play FestEVOL
Posted by Jake Vigliotti in Random Appearances at 3:32pm on Tuesday, Jan 8th, 2013Stefan's side act, Yukon Kornelius - who incidentally, are awesome - will be performing again in 2013. The band is scheduled to perform at FestEVOL in Okemo, VT on March 16, according to the Bud Light Concert Series promotion of the event.
Does that mean anything touring wise for the Dave Matthews Band? No. If there were to be a spring tour, it wouldn't really effect anything with that, so you shouldn't read too much into it. However, if you are in the general area, you should really check em out. Yukon Kornelius puts on a great show.
DMB Now Available in Rock Band Game
Posted by Jake Vigliotti in Random Appearances at 12:38pm on Friday, Nov 2nd, 2012Songs from the Dave Matthews Band are now available for the video game Rock Band. According to the Rock Band Blog, the songs Mercy, Ants Marching, and So Much To Say are available as downloadable content for the game (check your systems downloadable platform to find em).
The download is titled Dave Matthews Band Pack 01, which would lead one to presume that there would be more. But in the mean time, dust off that ole Rock Band game and play some DMB!
Carter Drum Solo on a GoPro
Posted by Matthew Yette in Random Appearances at 2:57pm on Thursday, Sep 6th, 2012GoPro, makers of "The world's most versatile camera," has just published a video to their YouTube page featuring a three-and-a-half minute drum solo featuring none other than Carter Beauford. For those unfamiliar with the GoPro product line, they are relatively inexpensive, ruggedized digital video cameras that can be paired with a variety of creative mounts in order to record video from unique angles. They are popular with rock climbers, off-roaders, and can even be worn on your head. Carter is wearing his in his mouth in this video, starting off the clip by joking about scuba diving.
We've all seen Carter tear up his set from afar; now GoPro has given us an opportunity to see it from the eyes of the man himself.

DMBrasil Talks with Dave
Posted by Jake Vigliotti in Random Appearances at 9:21am on Thursday, Aug 30th, 2012The great Rodrigo Simas, founder of DMBrasil and long-time friend of Dave Matthews, had an opportunity to chat with Dave recently. Those conversations will now be heard by you as well, according to The Official Site Dave and Rodrigo kicked it old-school (or velha escola) in a 14-part series which will be featured on the DMB You Tube Channel.
As we said above, Dave and Rodrigo are friends, and Dave usually opens up pretty well to Rodrigo, mainly because Rodrigo is the nicest guy in the entire world (or at least in the top 4). We highly recommend you check em out, and if you're at the Gorge, and see Rodrigo, say hi to him!
Cali Talks with Boyd
Posted by Matthew Yette in Random Appearances at 2:50pm on Wednesday, Jun 20th, 2012Boston's Mix 104.1 very own Cali landed another interview with a member of the Dave Matthews Band, this time with Boyd Tinsley. Cali is of course famous among DMB fans for his fantastic interviews with the band (which we archive here). The interview with Boyd focuses mainly on his new film, Faces In The Mirror, but touches on a few other things. Go ahead and give it a listen here.

Dave Makes Surprise Solo Appearance
Posted by Julie Wrinkle in Random Appearances at 4:36pm on Saturday, May 26th, 2012Dave Matthews surprised the audience at the Greenwich Town Party in Greenwich, CT when he took the stage this afternoon to play a 20 minute set. The full set is not currently known, but it appears that regular solo staples Crush and Save Me were performed. More information on the event and photos from Dave's performance can be found here.
Obama Supporter Bashes DMB in Yahoo Article
Posted by Jake Vigliotti in Random Appearances at 9:56pm on Thursday, Apr 19th, 2012Dylan Stableford, who according to his Facebook page likes President Barack Obama, managed to work in the name Dave Matthews Band into a misleading headline for a blog he typed for Yahoo.
Want to know the sad part? The non sequitur for this story on his embarrassing headline is actually more on target than the headline of his blog, which is clearly an attempt to garner web hits.
We at Antsmarching.org tried to reach the University of Vermont graduate to see if there is a personal vendetta he has against DMB - his facebook lists The Grateful Dead and The Foo Fighters as musical interests, but he did not respond to emails asking for clarification to the headline.
You'd think the story is over, but Wait! There's more! Stableford lists Brooklyn Decker as one of his likes, yet she is a DMB fan (and has attended DMB shows in the past), and he has written a blog on the worst in media, including "selective editing". Sort of like linking a person who sympathizes with a serial killer to a band they like.
Isn't irony ironic sometimes?
