According to a review here at Antsmarching.org, there may have been as little as 30 people in attendance, making it the least attended concert in the 'big venue' era in the US (after 1994, that means).

Clearly, the gem of the release is Don't Burn The Pig, as anyone could clearly see. It's the clear standout, and you couldn't miss it (looking at you, message board). There was a previous DBTP released, but that was in the DMBLive series, so that means this is a multi-track recording. Which is nice. Additionally, Dave and Stefan perform on I'll Back You Up, and there's a nice Proudest Monkey when it was still in jam form.

Here is Phillip Phillips (yep, that's his name) audition: Judge for yourself here. The footwork - which shows that clearly Jennifer Lopez has never heard of Dave Matthews - certainly had some "Dave-like" moments. And his guitar playing did look like Dave. Not surprisingly, Phillips lists Dave Matthews as an influence according to an Idol gossip site

It is pretty clear that he sounded a lot better with a guitar than he did sans 6-string. We'll see if he can survive the Hollywood week of the show.

It's a poorly kept secret that keeps getting confirmed in odd places (like a Facebook page for Trumpets), but that also means that the coveted "official announcement" must be on its way. Right? We created a new section in the forums to keep up with the hype. And take a minute to vote in the poll we created down over there (to the right... see it?). The Hype Machine is officially rolling for the most anticipated studio album in 12 years. No pressure, really. ]]> what does it mean????

The outstanding Blenheim Vineyards, co-owned by Dave Matthews, have produced their yearly Painted wines series again, and they are now available for pre-order!

There are two styles available, a red - 47% merlot, 21% syrah, 14% cabernet sauvignon, 11% petit verdot, and 7% cabernet franc - and a white - 42% chardonnay, 28% viognier, 20% roussanne, and 10% marsanne are available in a 3-pack "sampler", or you can order by the case. If you've tried these in the past, first lucky you, and second, you know that the blends make for an incredibly smooth wine. The 2010 was very drinkable right out of the bottle, and with a little breathing, became more complex. Expect the same this year.

And, as in the past, Dave has designed the labels for the bottles, going with a bird design this year.

And as if the cool bottle and delicious wine wasn't enough, each pre-order will receive a limited edition, screen printed, numbered handbill. 10 random handbills will be signed by Dave Matthews! Not too shabby.

What we did was to cull out the best shows, all receiving a rating of 4.7 or higher. As of this column, there are 16 shows that made the grade from 2000 through 2011. Did a show you attended make it? • Stefan's stream-of-consciousness Twitter actually got off a tangent thought, tweeting, "@Sillywhite you should follow me Lillywhite Sincerely Stefan".
• A well known taper, not known for hyperbole, posted a conversation he overheard that is enough to bring even the smartest of arses on the boards to tears.

A fan posted that through a friend (through Rashawn), DMB is going to the studio in January.

And on top of that, we at Ants have been receiving emails from the usual "My friend that works at (insert uppity place here) told me that...". The two most interesting and plausible based on the info we list above is A. An email which claimed that indeed DMB is doing studio work in early 2012, and B. an email on a different subject where a source said that DMB is working with, "their old producer."

So that's it, right? Hang on... just slow down a bit.

That led to a rumor that he was producing the last album (in case you missed it, he didn't). And whereas everything listed in bullet points is most likely true, they don't mean that Steve Lillywhite is producing the next album. He could be doing, well, pretty much anything other than producing the next album. Sure, the unconfirmed reports we have sure look good, but until we get some official word, the hype machine will spin out of control.

At the very least, it's safe to say that yes, the Dave Matthews Band will at the very least go into the studio in 2012 and work on a new album. But as we all remember from 2000, 04, 06, 07, and 08, that doesn't mean a whole heck of a lot. Sorry to end this on a downer... ]]>
