Pros:
- Neil and Dave stomping at one another while playing Watchtower
- Dave and Neil sharing a stage

Cons:
- Sound quality in the stadium sucked arse

Pretty rough the first time Dave played the electric. The reverb in the concrete bowl of a stadium was bad. Not their best show, but it was great being at UVA and checking out Trax, Millers, etc.

nobody seems to remember that soullive was the first band of the night. they rocked the few people that bothered to show up early. as for dave i thought it was a good show.

This show rocked out, even though it was not the best show I've ever seen, it was my first. Great hometown crowd, which I am a part of, made this an unforgettable experience. Neil Young was unreal on Watchtower! Everyday stuff could have been cut down a bit, but twas the first show of 01 Everyday Tour so what the hell...All in all, terrific show and something I will always cheerish in my memories.

This show was alright, I guess. Nice opener with Two Step but waaay too much Everyday in the set, which would prove to be a recurring theme for this tour. Anyhow the venue was cool and Charlottesvile is a great college town.

No way I would of missed this one. This is like making the journey to Mecca for DMB fans. It was a great weekend. Made the trip with Mitch, Ben, Gofus, Jake, and got up with Cook down there. Good seats, 11th row on Leroi's side, the boys were nervous being home and you could tell. Highlights were 2 step opener (Carter is a GOD) and Watchtower with Neil Young-Sick!!!

Like some others here, I too made the long trek from the great state of Wi. to see the show. It was my first time traveling real far to see 'em. With all the hype/ controversy accompianing the show, it was a little bit of a disappointment. I remember hearing boos when Dave first picked up the electric. Nonetheless I have nothing but great memories from the night. Charlottesville is gorgeous. Thanx to the guys from Raleigh for the smoke!!

My first show and I loved it. Dave's voice was a little hoarse or something, but all in all it was great. Neil Young rocked too, although many talked through his act... couldn't understand that one... I wonder if Neil really went over to the keg party on Stadium Rd afterward?

Loved the Two Step opener, the first five songs were great. Neil kinda skipped a bit of the Watchtower lyrics, but it made it unique. The last 1/3 of the show was "blah"

This was my first ever Dave Matthews Band show, and let me say, I was not disappointed. While the set was a bit different (almost strange), the overall experience was phenomenal. Even though DMB played numerous Everyday tunes, I feel that nothing was lost due to their being played.

Awesome show from the top deck looking into the C'ville skyline. What a great breeze that night. Unfortunately my favorite song at the time was Two Step and my girlfriend wanted a bottle of water. I obliged and as I was in line, I heard the opening violin strings. Ugh.

The best part of this show was the vibe in the town. Charlottesville was just buzzing with people everywhere. The show probably didnt live up to the hype for anybody but it was still an excellent show..great way to start with two step. Overall, it was a great show i think, Neil young and dave singing watchtower was amazing.

Great show. They mixed in the new songs from Everyday very well. Heard lots of old songs so much to say into too much was awesome. Ants marching and two step were great as well. All alnong the watchtower will Neil Young was a treat. I believe the new cd is going to catch on. The songs sound a lot better live.

I feel like giving it a 5 rating because of Neil and Crazy Horse and then Neil and Dave playing Watchtower together. But like others have said, first show going electric and not my fav album either. That said, still a great show and great road trip with some great people.

My very first show was utterly amazing, even though the songs were new to me! I had been listening to DMB for many years, but finally attended this show. I absolutely loved the whole show and was very glad to hear the Lovely Ladies. Too bad Neil Young was opening, not too keen on him.

a somewhat dissapointing show. people just dont want to swallow any everyday offerings, often sitting in protest. Only thing that saves this show is some lillywhite tunes, neil young and watchtower, two step was awesome, but obviously just a bone to tide us over for the everyday material...

Watchtower intro with Neil Young was an awesome concept, but could have been executed better (and longer). Could see the band jumping into vans at the top of the hill while crowd was thinking it was getting more music. Kind of left one with a bad taste.

Now, I know that most people thought that this show didn't live up to the expectations and were disappointed in the Stay closer. About the expectations, not a single show in the world could have lived up to the expectations that were placed on this show. Kinda like the Star Wars: Episode 1 syndrome. As for the Stay closer, I thought it was kinda weak when I heard it but after learning that Stay was written about the town of Charlottesville, it made me look at it in a whole new light. Onto the show. What's better than Two Step closing a show? Two Step opening a show. Then we get SMTS->ATSB->Too Much. The show didn't slow down until STDH. Watchtower was different than it has ever been because Neil Young screwed up the lyrics and skipped a verse. The band played it off nicely to make a pretty cool version of it. The only song of the night that seemed out of place was STDH. After Watchtower, this song brought the pace down a little too much. Hearing the first Everyday (#36) was nice in its own right. Not knowing what was coming makes the song so much better. Closing the set with Ants Marching was perfect. If I Had It All was a good encore song and is one of my favorites from Everyday. The Stay closer is more perfect than ever knowing the makings of the song.

I was pretty disappointed. The show was ruined by the elaborate MTV style huge screens in the back ground showing 1 second clips of the band from every angle. It was too glossy, too mainstream-over-do-it-ish. And Neil Young? What! Why in the world was he even there!!? This was a homecoming, and Neil Young was invited!!? Young's opening was horrible. The guy is way too old. Even during Watchtower he forgot a 3rd of his lines. I was upset, there were NO side tid-bits of conversation with the crowd, there was no playing on stage, there were no Dave Matthews signature gestures even. For a "homecoming" it was disappointing, especially at $55 minimum a ticket. Dave, the next time I see you at B&N can I get your autograph, haha.
